My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. When the storm on the Isle of the Hunt had finally let up enough to fly, Hiccup had wasted no time in saddling up and making his exit, keen on putting as much distance between himself and that place as he could. He was eager to be home, despite anticipating a lot of questions that he would end up having to answer. His trip North was only meant to take a few days, but between the storms on the way out, the storm that had grounded him, and the ones he was surely going to encounter on the way back...He was going to have to answer to the most frightening person Berk had to offer. Astrid. Though, he was definitely eager to see her, especially after the night prior's incident, he knew that no part of his answers would be good, but he also knew he deserved it for making so many consecutive bad decisions.
At least he could breath now, he couldn't remember the night air ever feeling so nice, his eagerness for home was vastly outweighing any tired he might be feeling, doubly so when he saw the fires of Berk in the distance. Home. Finally.
They landed in the center of the village, it not quite dark enough yet to send everyone into their huts for the night, there were still a few milling around, and he returned their greetings with as pleasant a tone as he could muster. He knew someone would have seen him coming, and would probably send word that he was home, so at this point it was mostly just waiting for her to find him, but his feet turned towards her home anyway, the look in his eyes was something like a guilty puppy, who knew he was about to get the reprimanding of a lifetime. He hoped he could be vague enough that he wouldn't have to tell her what really happened on that island, who he'd allowed himself to be cornered by, but he doubted he would be so lucky.
And part of him wanted it to come up, his brain still reeling from the whole thing, there were things he'd learned about Dagur in the last couple of encounters that he could have gone a lifetime without knowing, and if this was going to become a recurring thing...Well it would be nice to have someone aware on the off chance he ever went missing. --- Text || "Dialogue"

It had been days since Hiccup had left the village and Astrid was worried sick. Of course, she wouldn't let anyone know about it, especially the group. She played it off as if he was fine when people spoke to her about it, but in reality she was thinking of all the painful ways she could make Hiccup regret making her worry. There was always the fall back punch in the shoulder or gut, but he could expect that. Maybe she could just smack him upside the head...really hard?
Finally, it got to be too much waiting and worrying for her, so she went out the house to get stormfly. She would take a quick flight and see if he was anywhere near. If he asked, she was just checking the village to make sure everything was alright. Luckily, though, she ran right into someone coming to get her on her way out of her house.
"Hiccups back!" The boy said, who couldn't be older than ten, and then he took off running to the next house. Her eyes narrowed and she started towards the center of the village. When she finally saw him, he was heading towards her house. She stopped right in front of him, hopefully causing him to stop at the same time.
She punched him in the shoulder and then pulled him to her to kiss him. "You had me worried sick!" Her words were spoken lowly, so that he would be the only one that could hear her. Staring into his eyes though, she saw a guilty look and pulled back. "What happened?"
NOTES ; She only lowkey wants to kill him XD

My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. The Night Fury spotted Astrid before Hiccup did, a bit too caught up thinking about what he would say, how he would say it, of course in the end he would just end up winging it like he always did when he tried to actually plan his thoughts out in an organized manner. He looked up when he noticed the Night Fury speeding off, his eyes widening when he saw the woman, he'd noticed the small boy that was running back to the village...So he was right in assuming someone had gone to tell her. He tried to give her his best 'I can explain' smile, stopping short when she did.
"Astrid! Listen, before yo--oof!" He recoiled a bit when she socked him forcefully in the shoulder, "Yeah yeah, okay, I..." He was cut off again by the kiss, a relieving gesture when he thought back to what had happened the night prior, this is what it was supposed to feel like when someone kissed you. It was a nice reminder, he thought, but he didn't think for long, running a hand through his hair, "where do I even start..." He gave a chuckle that wasn't quite as enthusiastic as it could have been, "we were caught in a storm, we had to take shelter..." He was pointedly careful with his words, eyeing her a little, "and then we found an island, Dagur's island." He was trying not to let on how rattled he was by the encounter, "we also found Dagur, or he found us."
He left it at that, he knew that she wouldn't be satisfied by that being the end of it, but he was having trouble spitting the words out, smirking instead, "so y'know...Got to spend the night with an actual psychopath..." He quipped, shrugging, "just the usual in the long string of situations I've gotten myself into!" He pointedly changed the subject here, "How have things been while I was gone? Everyone getting on okay?"

She pulled back from him and inspected him for just a second before he started to speak. She could tell that he was nervous, just by the fact that he ran his hand through his hair. He only did that when he didn't want to tell her something. He wasn't that hard to read, so she knew something was up before he even knew she knew. However when he said that they had to take shelter on Dagur's island, she narrowed her eyes. That was probably what had been bothering him, to an extent. It couldn't have been that bad unless Dagur had taken the care to bother Toothless and Hiccup.
Dagur had found them, and Hiccup paused for a moment. She knew there hadn't been a fight, because, well, Hiccup wasn't the best fighter in the whole world, but he could hold his own. He quickly changed the subject though, which caused her to think that that wasn't the whole story. Pursing her lips just slightly, she turned to look at Berk. "Pretty okay. I mean, it's been really quiet."
She looked back at him, searching in his eyes for a moment. "Now tell me the rest of what happened on the island. I can't imagine that was all, especially if it was Dagur's Island." Little did she know, there was a much larger thing behind it. But she knew something was up, she wasn't that ignorant. "We can go to my house and talk about it so that we get out of the wind." She smiled at him and started to lead the way, making no room for arguements.

My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. Sometimes he hated just how well she could read him, the way she eyed him, scrutinizing his expressions and his body language. He didn't know if she could tell that everything he was saying was a vague dance around what had actually happened, but he could tell that she wasn't buying that it had gone as simply as his words implied. Damn. He sighed and didn't quite meet her expression, following her eyes to the village, "that's good, probably wont be quiet for long now that we're back." He chuckled more genuinely here, knowing full well that they would probably find some way to cause mini disasters sooner or later. They were good at it.
He met her eyes in time to see her staring into his, closing them after a moment before nodding, "Okay yeah...It...Really wasn't all..." He was glad for her suggestion to return to her home, nodding and following behind her with Toothless in tow, not too keen to leave his friends side, even though they were home safe now, he'd done so twice now with less than favorable results. Hiccup was glad to have them on either side, it felt safe, and it should have been that way the last two times he's encountered Dagur, instead of him being alone with no one at his back, just him and Toothless in a situation they couldn't have possibly prepared for, "those islands are too close for comfort..." He finally spoke, looking serious, "it's a three day flight between here and there...If they wanted to...They've got the man power, and the firepower to cause problems." Berk had its share of mighty warriors, but he still didn't like those odds, after a moment he looked over at her with a softer smile, "I'm sorry for worrying you." --- Text || "Dialogue"

A grin pulled at her lips when he spoke and she glanced over at him. "Of course. After all, everyone's been waiting for the inseperable duo, Hiccup and Toothless." She chuckled at the end of her sentence and smiled at toothless. They were a great pair, and she loved them both. She was sure the group would be super excited for Hiccup to be back as well. They got tired of her leading the dragon races, and, of course, her winning each time.
When he said that it wasn't all that happened, they had been right at her door once it registered in her head. She spun around and looked at him, feeling a wave of protectivity and slight anger at him holding back. "So what happened, Hiccup?" She raised a brow, blocking the door for a moment so that he had no choice but to answer her.
Eventually he did, but it was a worrisome type of response. She relaxed, realizing exactly what he meant. Berk had plenty of warriors, Vikings that could hold their own, but an attack from Dagur would be a surprise. Not to mention if they had a lot of firepower and plently of men to attack, then it would be no time when they next saw them.
She blinked at him slowly when he apologized and she just put her arms around him for a moment. "Just...next time bring someone with you, okay? We don't need to send all of Berk out looking for you, which I was about ready to do!" She said the last part jokingly, but her body language said that she was serious. She pulled herself away and then went to open the door to her house, letting Hiccup and Toothless in the house, if Toothless wanted to. Stormfly was outside and she smiled at her. "Don't worry girl, we'll go for a fly in the morning, right before the sun goes up." She promised the dragon. For now, she just wanted to catch up with Hiccup.

My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. He couldn't help but to smile at those words himself, it still felt weird, being anything but a screw up, and in a way he still was a screw up...He made mistakes all the time, he supposed he'd gotten better at recovering from them, and learning, but even small ones could end up snowballing into situations that were out of control. He still got overwhelmed sometimes, reflecting on the fact that the entire village was in his hands now, looking up to him in ways that he wasn't entirely sure that he deserved. But it was nice, at least, to come home and feel like people actually missed him...He wasn't sure if that would have been the case before, when it felt like everyone wanted nothing more than for him to be gone, "you think so?" He gave her a friendly nudge, "you're just saying that because I'm the only one fast enough to keep up with you!"
He was glad when she seemed to buy his reply enough to let him in through the door. He would tell her more, but not outside where anyone could hear them. He laughed softly at her words though, "you know I'll always come back...Just...Takes me a bit sometimes." He nodded though, "I wont go out alone again though...Trust me." After the night he'd had...He didn't know if he ever wanted to go anywhere alone again. Thinking about it still gave him uncomfortable chills.
Toothless opted to stay outside when the door was held open for him, keen to do his own game of catch-up with the dragon he was closest to. Hiccup found himself okay with this, taking a seat when the door was closed and sinking his head into his hands, "it was a stupid decision...I should have flown off when I had the chance..." His words were mumbled softly, "but I was curious...So I followed him." There was a bite of shame in his voice, hating to admit that this was his own fault, his own stupidity. --- Text || "Dialogue"

She smiled at him to his response about the flying. "I still win though." She ginned over at him and then watched as Toothless decided to stay behind with Stormfly. She figured they had some catching up to do as well. He spoke of always coming back, but that it would take time. She figured that, but he had Toothless so she had thought it would have been earlier.
Her head nodded in response and she sat down in a chair, leaning back so that she could look up to him. So he had followed Dagur? It wasn't just an accident run in, he had been following him? Her brows knitted together as she tried to piece together why he would do that. Of course, it was probably for recon reasons. Figure out what Dagur was up to, and then bring the information home. After all, Hiccup was the chief and that was something reasonable for him to do. She would have done the same exact thing.
She didn't fail to note the sound of shame in his voice and she stared at him for a moment. "Hiccup, what happened." She wanted, no needed to know what had happened while he was out. If Dagur had gone so far as to injure him. She inspected him up and down with her eyes, not getting up. That was when she saw it, the cut on his cheek. She quickly stood up and strode to him, taking his face in her hands and pushing it so that she could get a good look at it.
Where it had been dark outside, she hadn't noticed the cut. Now, however, it was plainly obvious that something had happened. "Where did this come from? You're not leaving until you tell me!" 'Because I'm going to kill them. The last part was unsaid, but that was what she was thinking. If it was Dagur, he was going to have one hell of a time.

My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. He shook his head, letting out a weary sigh and running his hands over his face, "alright, okay okay..." He tried to find the words as he sat, watching the fire burn in the hearth with a pensive, thoughtful expression, "we landed in the heard of their middle isle, downed by high winds...There was no way I was risking either of us getting hurt flying in a storm like that." Though in hindsight, risking a storm probably would have been a better fate, "I assumed it was just some empty island...But Dagur found us." He recapped how it'd started, mostly stalling actually talking about the rest, but he knew he'd have to, "I let my curiosity lower my guard, a allowed him to lead me to a hunting lodge deeper in." He shrugged, "It seemed like the only option, the storm was getting worse, and he was being chatty...So I figured I could glean some information out of him. I thought I'd be okay." He let out a sigh through his nose, "but I underestimated him, and overestimated myself."
He stopped here when she took his face, unable to help a tight smile at her concern, "Dagur did...Right before he got me on the ground and..." He trailed off, his eyes darting away from her's, "he's obsessed with me Astrid, and I've never been more terrified..." He wouldn't have admitted that to anyone but her, "he kept getting close, too close..." He ran a hand over the bruise on his neck, or what was still visible, it was fairly faint after a few days of travelling, "I was pinned between him and the storm...And I didn't want to risk Toothless getting hurt in the storm." He wrinkled his nose in an angry expression, "he kept touching me...Kissing me...I fought...but he's stronger than I am." He hung his shoulders, "I let him get the better of me...It was humiliating." He didn't meet her eyes now, staring into the fire intently. --- Text || "Dialogue"

He started to speak and listened intently to the story. Her mind took mental notes of what all he was saying. High winds, and getting hurt because of them. Of course Hiccup wouldn't risk either of them getting injuried, Astrid would have had the same thought process. She slowly nodded as he spoke about getting information out of him. Naturally any Viking would have thought like that, especially a chief. She wouldn't expect anything less because of that small fact.
When he replied that it was Dagur who had cut his face, heat boiled through her blood. As he kept talking and his hand went to the faint bruise on his neck, the only thing taking over her mind was the intense hatred she was feeling for the man. Hiccup wasn't his to touch, and even though she wouldn't admit it to anyone else, he was hers.
She swallowed when he said that Dagur had kissed him, thinking of all the ways that she could make Dagur hurt. Then again, how does a crazy man hurt? She could tell how humiliated Hiccup was over the whole ordeal, and she gently turned his face towards hers, trying to make him look at her. "It's not your fault, Hiccup. Any other Viking would have done what you did." All of them would have to protect their dragons.
"Next time I see Dagur though, he's going to regret doing what he did to you." She didn't know how or when, but she was going to be utterly prepared to cut the man to small pieces or whatever. It wasn't right to treat someone like that. She would have hit him upside the head again for leaving, by himself, but she could already see all the guilt and shame in his body language. She didn't want him to feel any worse than he did.

My name's Hiccup... The Pride of Berk ...Great name, I know. He kept his eyes averted as he mused on the whole thing, "I guess I learned a lot about his village, how they work, he was pretty forthcoming." It had surprised him at the time, but really it shouldn't have been, why hide such things when you know that you will always have the upper hand? The thought of having Dagur so close was terrifying, and not just because of the thought of a raid or invasion, "The fact that they're so close...That he's so close..." He rubbed his hands over his face, "it's so messed up, I feel so messed up..." He always appreciated that she never tried to pass off the things he felt, in a village where feelings and emotions were normally choked down and squashed, he'd always stuck out by how earnestly he felt things, and Astrid never tried to take that from him.
He finally met her eyes when she puled his face to do so, his tight, worried expression softening as a small smile crept onto his face, "I did what I felt like I had to...Following him to that hunter's shack was stupid..." His voice lowered and his eyes fell to the side, "what happened was just the consequences of that stupid decision that I had to live with." Her words brought a chuckled from him though, and he grinned at her, "I don't doubt that." He put his hands over hers before taking them in his own, his expression serious, "when I say that he's obsessed though, I mean it...I wouldn't put it past him to find his way here...We have to be careful." His own home was a ways away from the rest, the chief's hut stood up and away, he knew that if Dagur wanted to, he could corner him in his own home...The thought was unnerving, "I had the chance to kill him...I should have." He sighed through his nose, "but I was weak, and I couldn't." His inability to take lives had caused him more than his fair share of suffering, for both he and his friends, and he felt like not killing Dagur had done just that. --- Text || "Dialogue"
