| GLADIOS HAGGARD TEXT - "Speech" - "Thought" luthyx Gladios stretched with a yawn and a grunt as his bones popped from the effort. He had been sitting in the same spot for a long time, waiting for the lumber to come his way in large bundles for him and his Sandwraith to carry. Pumpkin could only fit two bundles on his back, though a man of normal strength could only carry one with great struggle. Most that had this line of work would roll them, or have a dragon much like Pumpkin carry them, however, Gladios could carry two of these bundles with ease and carried one under each of his arms, and huffed before he started the treck towards the current construction site he had been asked to deliver the bundles to. Normally he was very careful with his ... unnatural ability, but if it could help people then why hide it? So long as he was careful not to break anything, then using what he had been given wasn't anything bad!
Pumpkin warbled lazily, unlike his rider the tan sandwraith didn't enjoy work in the slightest. He'd much rather sunbathe on some large boulder all day and only wake up to eat if necessary. "After you deliver those two bundles you have now then you can take the day off." He said with a light laugh, earning a more eager croon from his friend, who then took off in a hurry to reach the dropping point so he could leave and nap. Gladios shook his head with his own laugh at the sight, speeding his steps as well.
It was a cloudy morning, so not as many birds were out, but that didn't mean Gladios couldn't enjoy what songs he could hear. Like most overcast days, the birds were singing about snow and hoping to find food before said snow could come, or other birdly things such as needing twigs to decorate their homes. He finally reached the drop point, his dragon long gone, possibly napping inside the stables since the sun was nowhere to be seen.
The large man put down his own two bundles and immediately switched jobs since it would be some time before the next loads were ready to be delivered. He grabbed a bucket of nails and glanced up to see who all would be working with him. |

(playing as Hallgrim)
----------------
Hallgrim watched with anticipation as Gladios approached the site. He'd heard a couple tales about the burly man, but had yet to see his inhuman strength in person. Almost reflexively, Hallgrim hunched his back and gravitated towards a corner. He needn't worry about others - it's not exactly like others worried about him, anyway. He busied himself with hammering nails through wood.
Hallgrim shivered as he went about his work. Though it was plenty bright enough to see, the clouded sky offered no solace from the cold, and a biting ocean breeze had rolled in, bringing with it a light shroud of fog that choked the harbor. Most villagers dealt with it by simply putting on warmer clothing, but Hallgrim didn't exactly possess spares - or the courage to steal them. He gritted his teeth and focused on the nails.

| GLADIOS HAGGARD TEXT - "Speech" - "Thought" luthyx Most of the workers he already knew, though they were also uneasy around him. Having such strength he did, and his past of once working for Viggo dampened his reputation with many Berkians, though many of them didn't know the full story to the large misunderstanding... Of course, for that matter, they didn't care to learn the full story. They saw a strong and scary man who had a record with the dragon hunters, and that's all they needed in their book. Gladios aimed to start working from behind the building, keeping on the ground risk breaking a support beam as he had one time, quite an emberassing feat. He was quite aware of the younger man near him as he sat the bucket of nails down and grabbed one, using two fingers to sort of screw it into place. He had learned the hard way that Hammers and his strength don't mix when building, so screwing nails into place was quicker and less... destructive.
After doing this process with a few nails he finally began to speak , glancing over at Hallgrim with a beaming smile. "Hello friend." Came his deep yet friendly voice, carrying a far off accent, "I don't believe we have met? I am Gladios." He would offer his hand, but the fact they were using hammers and nails - it would probably be awkward.
"Today is cold. I think it may snow, or, that's what the animals are acting like. They are much smarter than me." He joked lightly, and his head tilted in curious confusion as he noticed the cooler clothing the young man was wearing, "Did you forget a coat?" |

(Playing as Hallgrim because I don't have post code, r i p)
--------------
Hallgrim bit his lip. He paused, resting the hammer on his lap, and looked over at Gladios, a nervous smile on his face.
"You don't know me?" Hallgrim said. "I... I'm Hallgrim. The kid that everybody knows, but nobody mentions. Don't pay any mind to me, I'm used to it."
He raised the hammer again, hesitated, and glanced down at his own dirty clothes. "I, uh. Yeah, I forgot a coat," he muttered, playing with a frayed sleeve. "I'm... not the most well off, I guess you could say. But I make do."
Hallgrim gestured lazily to the bucket of nails. He sighed, stooped his shoulders, and resumed hammering.
"Gladios, right?" he said, easing a bit. "You, uh, you haven't been around here for too long, have you?"

| GLADIOS HAGGARD TEXT - "Speech" - "Thought" luthyx Gladios nodded in understanding about not being well off. Had he not come here with Keirr and worked as hard as he had for the first two days, on top of having a dragon... He stepped back and took off his coat, he was plenty warm enough, and had face much worse colds than this, and tossed his coat onto Hallgrim's shoulder. "I've been here only two weeks. If not for kindness and forgiveness of chief and dragon friend then I would be dead." he stated half grimly, and almost thankfully, mashing in another nail, "It is sad, I am new and untrustworhty, I knew it would be like this for me, but you seem like you have been here long time? Why do you live like this?" |

Hallgrim was a trite stunned as the cloak hit his shoulder, sliding balefully down to his elbow. He blinked, looked at the too-big coat, and decided not to let the opportunity go to waste. He grabbed it and pulled it haphazardly over his arms. It was ridiculously large for someone like him, and he could barely maneuver his hands to actually escape the cuff, but it was better than working in the cold.
"Thanks," he said, shooting a shaky smile at the gargantuan man. Part of him wondered if Gladios was half jotun. "Yeah, I, uh. I've been here for a while now. I.. I don't really have any family, so I just have to scrape by."
A baleful, bitter expression crossed his face. "Everyone just thinks that I'm some immature, sneaky street kid. They don't trust me with anything important. I can't get a better job. I can't get a dragon, either, and everyone would notice a missing boat, so... I'm just sorta... stuck."
Hallgrim's shoulders sagged, and he sighed and shook his head. He glanced back up at Gladios and grinned a bit, pulling the coat tighter around his torso. "Well. It's good to know that someone here doesn't hate my guts, at least."

| GLADIOS HAGGARD TEXT - "Speech" - "Thought" luthyx The giant of a viking smiled again as Hallgrim put on his coat, finding it heavily amusing that it was much too big, but at least this young man would be warm. He could tell this boy was in a spot much worse than he, which was so baffeling. "He told you no dragon? But even I have a dragon friend, that's not something you can deny." His brows furrowed. How ... How weird. He had heard so much good about Hiccup, and seen it too, but to be told one can't have a dragon? A companion that the rest of Berk was allowed?
"I am sure others will come around. Even I have found friends here among people who dislike me." He reached over, giving Hallgrim a tender pat on the back, though with his uncanny strength it was still unintentionally rough. His smile brightened immensely, "If you ever need friend, you can find me ." |

Hallgrim shrugged lazily. "Yeah, well. That's the way life goes, I guess. Old opinions die hard."
He sighed, running his thumb over the rough grains of the hammer's handle.
After a moment of silence, a smile crossed the boy's face, and he let out a hopeless chuckle. "Well. I.. I guess it's nice to have a friend here. And an impressively strong one, at that."
"So, hey," Hallgrim said. "I guess... if you don't hate me... we could, I dunno, meet up again sometime? I guess I could show you where I hang out most nights."

| GLADIOS HAGGARD TEXT - "Speech" - "Thought" luthyx The man's smile brightened tenfold. "Yes! Sounds very good, I love making new friend!" He boomed excitedly, just as he happened to be pressing in another nail... and in his excitement, his thumb went through the board entirely. He kept talking, however, hoping Hallgrim wouldn't notice as he ripped his thumb away and casually grabbed another nail.
"I can show you where my friends and dragon friends like to play as well. Pumpkin and I can fly you to beautiful island?" |

Hallgrim jumped a bit as the wood cracked under Gladios's thumb, but a bright smile remained plastered on his face. "Yeah." he said.
"Yeah, that sounds nice."
