Henry looked out over the horizon as she shifted on the back of her dragon, though they weren't currently air- born. They had been practicing land maneuvers at Raven Point for most of the day, weaving in and out of trees on foot, and took turns hiding from another and even took a break to hunt. All drills that might come in handy someday in the future.
After they felt that they could be done with drills they sat themselves in the clearing, near the cliffs were both Viking and dragon knew their old nest lay. This was also the same cliff she had jumped off of once, and Gummy first learned the start to flying. Their eyes lay on the sun setting on the horizon... the scene was too familiar. "... You miss them, don't you?" the navy blue nadder asked his rider with a sad tone. He had secretly always wondered if Henretta ever blamed him for her choice, or abandoning her family.
"Every day," Henry said softly, petting her dragon's head, "but I don't regret that day. Even now ... I wouldn't have changed a thing. I'm happy here with you and the others."

### words for @tag "Gustav" - "Fanghook" Remember that your gifts are your gain He'd been practicing too, practicing shooting from Fanghook's back, in the middle of aerial maneuvers, but he was currently bored and kind of ready to just relax and shut his brain off and find Henry. Fang hadn't taken long to find the pair, he was always good at tracking down his closest dragon friend no matter how far he went, Gustav knew well by now that Fang was incredibly attached to Gummy, not many dragons valued him like the Nadder did, it was just another thing the two shared in common, there were only a handful who seemed to actively want them around. He appreciated both Gummy and Henry all the more for that.
He almost felt bad interrupting the pair as they spoke, they seemed to relaxed and at ease as they watched the setting sun, but after a moment of watching from the sky, he decided to bring them in for a landing, chuckling softly as he slid off his dragon's saddle, "Henry, Gummy, there you are, Fang had a hunch he knew where you were." The Monstrous Nightmare growled out a laugh, nudging his rider, "and I was right, like I always am!" The small boy shot a dirty look to his dragon and shoved his head away, chuckling, "oh hush, no one wants to hear your gloating." He smirked, coming to sit on one side of the pair while Fanghook took the other, he glanced up at her, "what's up?"

Henry glanced up at the sound of wings flapping a beamed at the sight of Gustav coming in to land. "Hi!" She called with her normal over enthusiastic nature. "Just reflecting on my past with grumpy Gummy." She teased and gave her dragons nose a pat. He rolled his eyes and came to sat beside Fang, crooning in greeting. "I hope she never changes..." he found himself saying as he shifted where he sat. Henry smiled as her dragon said that, though her attention was on Gus.
"Haven't seen you all day, I was worried you'd gone on patrol without me or something." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

### words for @tag "Gustav" - "Fanghook" Remember that your gifts are your gain The Nightmare gave a friendly croon in greeting to the Nadder as he eagerly found his way to his side, curling around him comfortably as he glanced down towards his rider with a snort, "I could say the same..." He chortled out a laugh, to which Gustav responded by sticking his tongue out at him before he turned his attention to Henry, "never! I was training with Fang...Missed you though..." He chuckled, coming to sit close by her side, "so we thought we'd come see if you wanted some company!"
He looked to the side and chuckled softly, sliding his helmet off his head to run a hand through his hair, "I hope we aren't intruding or anything!" He looked back at Gummy and chuckled, "if ya'll wanna be alone just say the word and we'll buzz off!" He sounded sincere in these words, even though he kind of hoped she wouldn't want them to leave.
He smiled over at her and leaned against her shoulder, looking thoughtful, "I don't think you've ever told me the full story about you and Gummy, how you met, all that...I know some vague stuff but..." He wouldn't press if she didn't want to talk about it, but he was curious.

Gummy nuzzled Fang happily, lazily laying down and closing his eyes since he was sure they would be there a little while with Henry and Gustav talking. "They're good for one another." Henry roller her eyes at Gummy for that comment and grabbed Gustav's hand, pulling him to stand beside her on the cliff, facing out towards the setting sun. "My story... I guess it's about time I told you the past of the all amazing Henry~" she said with a laugh, draping an arm around Gustav's shoulder and pulling him closer, their heads resting together as she swept her hand over the horizon, "It started a great many years ago, when my villiage arrived on Berk," She started dramatically, "I was about four, I looked and acted just like my mother, loveable yet very curious. Fearless. While mom and dad were busy tending to he docks I was supposed to be playing with the other kids, but tag and all that was boring quick. So I went to start an adventure in the woods." She pointed to Gummy and her hand slipped away from Gustav, "There I saw a little dragon, didn't even come up to my hip! This was before Berk even considered to be Dragon friendly. He was so small and sweet, I mean I instantly fell for him. And he fell for me too, he ran up and we started playing. I came back the next day and the day after, until..." she cleared her threat, smile fading. "My birthday came around... I was five." She slid the goggles off her face and traced her fingers over the glass.
"My mother spent the day with me, and let me pick out a present from trader Johan's ship... I saw two of these... mathching sets of goggles. So we had even more in common." She looked out over the horizon, clutching the object tightly in her fist. "... and that was the night they were supposed to leave Berk forever... but I couldn't leave Gummy behind... I couldn't bring myself to do it. I snuck off the ships... and from here I watched them sail away." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

### words for @tag "Gustav" - "Fanghook" Remember that your gifts are your gain When the nadder came closer, Fang craned his long neck to rest his head lazily against Gummy's back, rumbling out a content noise as he watched the two humans from his peripheral, "uh huh, Gus needed someone like her, he was awfully lonely..." His own words caused Gustav to duck his head a little, but he was distracted when Henry grabbed his hand and pulled him over, looking up at her, "yeah, I'd like to know where such an awesome person like you came from!" He grinned, looking content when he was pulled close to her side, leaning into her and taking the hand draped over his shoulder in his.
His eyes followed her when she trailed off and walked away, turning to face her with an amused smile on his face, it didn't surprise him, it was more than a little clear that she'd known him for a long time, the two were family and now he understood why. When he face fell, his own expression turned curious, eyeing the goggles in her hand, it was heavy, but he couldn't really blame her...He probably would have chosen a dragon family over the one he'd gotten...Then again he didn't have the best point of reference.
When she finished speaking, he came to her side and glanced up at her, giving her a fond smile, "for what it's worth...I'm glad you're here...I'm glad you're part of my family now..."

Gummy crooned happily at the other dragon, glad to have his company, though he perked up worriedly when he felt the emotion of his rider suddenly start to boil within her. Neither rider nor dragon could place the emotion.
"It's funny..." Henry said softly, smile fading as her eyes searched the horizon, as if she would see the long lost sails and tribal crest of her tribe in the glow of the setting sun. "I feel like if I looked I would find them... But at the same time I feel like... Like I wouldn't like what I see, even though they're my family... And I left them." Her father's voice... Her mother's smile... Why did she have the feeling she wouldn't see them ever again? They seemed like such a distant memory...
She heard a crack from her hand, and a sharp sense of pain that made Gummy squak and jump to his feet when he felt it too. There was a sudden wrenching from the dragon, as if his heart was about to give out, and he knew this was the pain his rider felt, and worriedly he struggled to the woman's side.
Henry opened her hand, tears streaming as her good hand clamped over her mouth... The glass shards we're bloody, poking out from her palm.
"I... " She held her good over her chest, "I broke them! They're broken!" She turned her scared, watery eyes to her dragon, and then to Gustav. They were broken... Perhaps... Perhaps this was what her parents had felt realizing their daughter missing.

### words for @tag "Gustav" - "Fanghook" Remember that your gifts are your gain There were a lot of things he wanted to say, a lot of things about how she was his family now, and that whatever happened and wherever her real family was, she would always be that, but she knew that already, didn't she? He'd told her as much plenty of time even before they'd gotten closer, so retelling her felt empty when she was obviously struggling with feelings he couldn't even begin to understand, family was a concept he really knew nothing about, at least not like this, not enough to feel loss by their absence like she clearly did. So instead of talking and offering more words, he put a hand on her back and stood close, letting her know that he was there while she worked through and let out these feelings that had obviously been boiling for a while. He could feel how tense she was.
He didn't pick up where the crack came from at first, but when Gummy got to his feet in an alarmed manner, Fanghook close before, he glanced over and saw the blood starting to drip from Henry's hand where the glass had embedded itself, "Henry!" He gasped out an alarmed sound, he didn't need any kind of special connection to feel the emotions coming off of her in waves, and he'd never seen her look so utterly lost and afraid, "Henry breath..." He knew he would have to deal with the shock-horror of having broken them at all, but right now he was more concerned with the physical injuries to her hand, "l-lemme...Get this glass out..." His voice was trembly and clearly worried as he looked up at her face, taking her uninjured hand, "stay with me, okay? I'm here, I'm here...I need to get this glass out of your hand...stop the bleeding..." He wished he was better at this, Adelaide was good with these things, he was make-do at best...
If she would let him, he intended to start trying to gently pick out the largest slivers of glass, this would be easier with some of Hiccup's delicate grabby tools, "I'm sorry Henry...I'm sorry..."

Henretta felt like she was going to pass out, her vision blurry from both tears streaming down her face freely, and the sensation of heavy guilt. Of loss. She couldn't breath. She was drowning, and she deserved it! How could she go and break the most prized thing to her! How could she leave her parents like she had! What kind of ignorant death-seeking child would go do such a thing! A shaky and silent sob left her, as she reluctantly allowed Gustav to pick the glass from her hands, the physical pain from that wad hardly a bee sting to what her mind was throwing at her. "They're gone and it's my fault." She felt water close over her head, truly weighing in on what she had done, though not with the silly goggles she always wore. She had left her parents. Why hadn't they returned? Any family, especially a chieftain, would have returned for their daughter. They were dead, she was sure of it. Why did it take such a stupid thing to realize this? An omen... it was a sign, it must be! These stupid spectacles had lived through so many things, how could her grip just break them! No! No it had to be a sign from above, "They're gone..." She herself wasn't sure which thing she was talking about, the goggles, her parents, or both... She felt empty... but filling in that empty void quickly was an overwhelming sensation of guilt, like a horse running her over at full speed and a carriage behind it as well. WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

### words for @tag "Gustav" - "Fanghook" Remember that your gifts are your gain When he was sure that he had at least the largest shards of glass from her hands, he quickly reached down to tear a portion of his shirt off, quickly using it to wrap around her hand before he looked up and caught the expression on her face, "Henry..." He could tell just by looking at the pale coloring to her face that if she didn't breath normally again she was going to pass out, hanging around Adelaide had taught him at least a few basic things...He took her cheeks in his hands suddenly, the intent being to snap her out of what she'd quickly been sucked into, "Henry! Breath, okay?"
He looked up into her eyes with a purposeful expression, "whatever has or will happen, none of it is your fault, you were a child. A child." He kept his eyes on hers, "you're hyperventilating and you need to breath before you pass out..." His own voice was strained with worry as he slipped his hands from her face to wrap them around her in a hug, he didn't know if it would do any good, but he wanted to keep her grounded, he wanted to remind her that he was here.
And he couldn't really deny her words either, it had always seemed weird to him that if they loved her like she made it sound, they just...Never came back...He looked up at her, unsure what to say to that, "w-well..." He started, then stopped, then sighed softly, "I'm here, even when no one else in the entire world is...I-I'm not going anywhere?" He didn't know if that was any consolation, but he was flying fairly blind in a storm he knew nothing about at the moment.

| HENRY CHOI TEXT - "SPEECH" Henry looked up at Gustav as reality came back to her, pain filling her hand, though she chose to not react to it, eyes dialating as she watched him wrap her bleeding hand. This was what she had done. This was who she was. A young woman, that had gotten her family... no doubt they were dead. No doubt it was her doing. But- she felt selfish for thinking it, but everything tha had happened. Well, she’d be damned if she’d change a thing, given the chance. Here she had dragons. Here she had great friends and free choice, and above everything else, she had Gummy and Gustav.
Shakily she began to breath much slower, though tears still fell. Even grounded again as she was, the goggles had been precious. She felt like she’d lost a part of herself in breaking them.
Hearing her partner speak did little to soothe her, she doubted anything could, but in a way, knowing he really wouldn’t leave... She lifted herself slightly, just enough to swing her arms around Gustav and hold him tightly against her, speaking clear through her struggle to calm her breathing, “I don’t know what I’d do without you.” |
