"Hiccup" - "Toothless"
A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI
There were a lot of things that Hiccup always felt prepared for, getting lectured to, complaining about dragons doing this or that thing that they shouldn't be doing, Ruff or Tuff blowing this or that up and how he needed to control his friends, these were things he was used to and things he expected when he sat down with his father for dinner. What he did not expect, was for the man to return more bubbly than he'd ever seen him...Well ever...Babbling about this woman he'd met on his last trip out to...What was the place called...Honeycomb? Honeydew? Whatever the case, Hiccup had not been expecting his father to drop the news that he'd married a woman from this other village, that he now had a step sister, a step mother, and that both were coming to Berk to live with them.
He couldn't help but feel a little betrayed, the topic of his own mother was a sore and sometimes tender subject, he'd never known her, he didn't know what it was like to have a mother period, and while he wanted Stoick to be happy, it was ludicrous to expect him to spend his life alone, he was nervous...He didn't know this woman or her daughter, he only knew vague details about their village, a rowdy bunch from what he remembered. Stoick seemed to be very fond of her, evident by the way he was smiling as they stood in wait for them at the docks. He was happy to see his father happy...He only wished he could share that, instead of feeling this swirling nervousness inside his stomach. What if this Mern lady didn't like him? He was sure Stoick had told her plenty, he'd been visiting this village for a while, and he was sure those stories had not always been so flattering...He half figured they still weren't always that way...There were so many what-ifs and he didn't like any of them.
Stoick must have picked up on his son's apprehension, because in the next moment Hiccup felt a large hand on his shoulder and a voice that was supposed to be comforting, but his father had never been entirely well versed in that, "ah, Son, don't worry so much. You're going to love Mern, Baby too, I've told them a lot about you." Hiccup let out a nervous laugh and reached to pat his dad's massive hand, "that's what I'm half afraid of...I'm glad you like her so much...I just kinda hope she's not all that disappointed in what she's getting out of the deal..." He glanced to the side as Toothless bumped up against his side, just as curious and eager as everyone else was to meet these newcomers to Berk, and Stoick's new wife.
