He had not been back to Berk for a few months, having last visited a while back. But, he had not stayed long before he felt a need to explore another island for the time being, having found himself on Itchy Armpit where he had struck up a friendship with the baby dragon called Puffle and had enjoyed their time together while also doing his own thing. Seeming as he had been there for a while he felt a need to finally return to the village that had helped him eight years prior, getting him to the current state he was.

It was late by the time he had reached Berk however, and he was already feeling somewhat drained from his long flight. His first thought was to find some place to rest before he considered seeing the citizens of Berk, when he was feeling more energized rather than in his tired state. So, Draugr began to scan the area for a proper sleeping spot, his gaze narrowing in on a lone hut on the side of the largest mountains within the area, growling happily since it was the closest place he could find, pushing his tired and aching wings to fly just a bit further before landing on the platform. Sniffing around, his eyes widened with excitement when realizing it belonged to one of the riders, feeling they wouldn't mind him sticking around for a night.

Letting out a tired sniff, Draugr pushed the door open with his snout, sniffing around at first but finding the scents were old and stale, indicating someone was not home at the time. "Sure they'll be back later. Or I'll be gone before they notice." The Moldruffle assured himself, pushing his form all the way inside and making his way around the hut, finally coming across a rock slab, indicating this might be where the dragon companion slept. It was large enough to fit his large form for the moment, letting out a relieved sigh as he came to it, letting out a small stream of flames and circling on the spot before flopping down and curling up, his tail fin covering his face and falling asleep for the time being.

A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI

Originally, he'd intended to move into the lofty hut full time, but between the duties that kept him tied to the village and the need to be there for his mother as she adjusted to living in Berk again, that plan had fallen to the wayside, still, the hut on the highest point on the island still served its purpose, it was his hideaway, the place where he came when he just needed to be alone and think, accessible only via flying unless you were up for a particularly ambitious climb, which most weren't, and that tended to keep most away when they knew Hiccup was here. He also liked to come here when he had planning to do, he got his best ideas here, after all.

Tonight was one of those nights where he felt like staying up all night making plans and spending time with Toothless, so after making sure that there was nothing else to be done around the village below, he took off to his not-so-secret hideout, landing on the wide platform and chuckling as he slid from Toothless's back, "if I have to settle another marital dispute I might go insane..." Toothless snorted and shoved his rider, "more insane, you mean." The retort earned a sarcastic laugh from Hiccup before they both stopped, "I closed the door when we left last...Right?" It was open, he was fairly certain he never left it open.

Toothless crept in first, lips peeled back in a toothy snarl before the scent of another dragon caught his nose, it didn't seem hostile, so he quickly relaxed looking back as Hiccup passed him up, "uh...Hello?" He looked around, only becoming aware of the dragon when he heard the heavy breaths...A Moldruffle? He laughed and cocked a brow carefully approaching the sleeping dragon before resting a gentle hand against his head, chuckling softly, "hey, wakey wakey?" This was certainly an odd thing to come back to...

The mostly purple and white Moldruffle seemed oblivious to the world, completely gone to the world around him save for the pleasantness of dream land. His sides rose and fell, a light snoring leaving his form in his slumber. Had it not been for the press of a hand on his head and Hiccup's voice directly near him, Draugr likely wouldn't have realized he had company until he awoke from his sleep. But, the hand and voice caused the large juvenile to stir and mumble groggily, lifting his triangular head until he was face to face with Hiccup, eyes half lidded from not quite being awake.

A few minutes passed that he really registered the two in front of him, blinking the sleep from his eyes at first before they opened fully. Letting out an excited warble, Hiccup's and Toothless' scents being rather familiar, Draugr didn't hesitate to stand, given more height due to the thick slab of rock beneath his feet. "One legged man! And great night Alpha! I knew I recognized your scents!" He crooned before embracing both with his large wings and tail, never considering for a moment Hiccup understood every word he was speaking now. The embrace was more akin to a bear hug and the dragon released them after a full minute before circling them happily, all too excited to consider boundaries and personal space. "I did not know this was your hut, but it was the closest thing I had to a resting place to regain my strength. I hope you two don't mind." He paused and turned to look at the newly scorched slab, "I just might have scorched your sleeping place more than usual night Alpha, sorry about that." He apologized.

The young dragon turned back to them, excitement clear in his large eyes. "Are you two here to play? Or are you relaxing? Can I join you?" It never crossed the Moldruffle's mind at this point that he was intruding on the two and hat they would probably have preferred some strange dragon not being in the equation.

Hiccup and Toothless exchanged an amused glance at the dragon's words, the rider chuckling softly and nodding, "yeah, it's us, we're--Oh!" He laughed when they were both suddenly embraced by the big dragon's wings and tail, this was certainly one of the most intense hugs he'd ever gotten, but it was kind of nice in a cozy way, "hey we're glad to see you too, buddy!" He chuckled, pressing his cheek to the dragon's head and laughing softly, "it's good to see you're okay!" He remembered this dragon, it had been a while since they'd seen him, so he was more than glad to see that he was doing well.

He chuckled, following him as he circled around him, giving him an amused grin, "you're okay, you're welcome here!" Toothless crawled up on the slab to flop down, tilting his head, "Toothless, my name is Toothless, and it's alright, I like it nice and toasty!" He gave him a gummy grin, scooting over in case he wanted to join him again, Hiccup smiled and ran a hand over the large dragon's back, "we're here to relax mostly, you're welcome to stay!" He chuckled, "also it's Hiccup, my name? What should I call you?" He hadn't exactly expected to ever have another dragon by his side aside from Toothless, but it didn't hurt to have more friends, right?

"Hiccup, Toothless..." Draugr repeated the names to himself, knowing before he hadn't exactly recalled them well, only recalling each riders by scent and appearance alone. Back then, he had still been young and trying to learn, to get better from the place he had once been when he started life, but now he would remember. A large toothy grin spread across his face, waving his tail back and forth when they didn't mind him remaining. Truth be told, he probably would have remained anyway and just slept elsewhere, still feeling his wings were somewhat sore from the long flight. Although, with all the excitement, he was quickly getting a second wind.

"Draugr is my name, sometimes I Draugr Skele-face, one of the villagers called me that when I was here a few seasons ago. But, Draugr is fine." He answered, tilting his head and eyes wide with excitement as he peered at the two. Hearing Toothless however, the Moldruffle couldn't help bursting his wings and tail fin into flames, "I can keep it that way for a while if you wanted," He emphasized towards his lit wings and tail fin, but the flames were low enough so not to catch anything on fire. It seemed the little bit of training he had received a few years previously had stuck, knowing at one point lighting things on fire by mistake had been a problem since he hadn't learned proper control in the hands of the trappers who had initially had him. But Berk had managed that and more with this young dragon.

Hiccup liked this dragon, he'd enjoyed his company when they'd first encountered, and it was doubly nice now that he could speak with him like this, he hadn't gotten a chance to before. He chuckled and reached a hand to gently pat his nose, before running it up to pet over his head, scratching gently at his scales, "I'm glad you found your way back here, Berk is a good place for you, and you can stay with me as long as you like." He laughed softly, glancing to Toothless, "I don't live here though, I live down below, there's a comfortable stable down there though, but you're also welcome to sleep in my room!" He figured the dragon would anyway if he wanted to, but the stable was there if his room ended up too crowded, which it sometimes did when there were several dragons sharing the space.

He laughed when Draugr ignited himself, amused by how pleased Toothless seemed to look at this, the Night Fury scooted over to make room for the other dragon, "can we keep him?" He turned his bright eyes to Hiccup as he said this, "I always kind of wanted a brother..." Hiccup rose an amused brow, but set a careful hand on Draugr's forehead, "what do you say, Draugr?"

“Berk became home to me.” Draugr looked rather thoughtful as he recalled just how helpful Berk truly was to him and his kind. He even purred and tilted his head, giving Hiccup a better reach for a moment before he came over towards Toothless once he moved aside. He almost felt amused when he could see Toothless seemed to not mind being able to warm the slab for a while. He was already enjoying himself to say the least.

But he had barely lifted a foot when he heard the Night Fury, eyes wide with surprise when he mentioned wanting a brother. “Great alpha...” He didn’t quite know what to say to that and was for a moment shocked at all that they were offer all this to him. But, when it finally sunk in, Draugr let out an excited growl, hugging Toothless once more before hopping right over to Hiccup and hugging him. Not that he stopped there. He gently bit the scruff of Hiccup’s shirt and tossed him onto his back, just short of striking the smaller spines across his back before making his way outside. “We’ll take first flight together to make it official Hiccup!” Draugr grinned a toothy smile, before spreading his fire covered wings and taking flight without waiting for a response.
