The Isle Of The Living
Each isle within the Beserker territory comes with its own name and use, The Isle Of The Living being self explanatory. It is the place the Beserkers call home or their mainland, even though it is on the far left of their territory. Its shores are flat across the island, flooding during the rainy season being extremely common and storms are frequent. The reason why they call this area home being the fact that it has easy access to the ocean and leads inwards towards the second isle for routine hunting. The flat and sturdy soil makes for excellent building grounds and helps keep their homes from sinking into the softer soil that is known to decorate the hunting grounds.
Weather here is difficult at best, long winters stretching through from early September to late May. Snowfall only happens from early November to late April and frost being the most common from April to May and September to November. The rainy season spans the rest of the time. The dry season being considered during the common frosts due to the lack of flora. The isle is covered in sand and rock, the vegetation that does grow being little to none. Only hardy plants can survive in these conditions, those being similar to evergreen trees, short shrubs, dry grass, and the occasional lambs ear if one were to find it. The Beserkers have only a few farmers, and what they farm is very little. The plant known as lambs ear being their main crop due to its many uses. Cabbage and Winter Jasmine are also farm favorites for those that can grow them. Native Serviceberry trees dot the landscape, their berries edible and are used in baking.
The fauna is a little more diverse than the flora in The Isle Of The Living. Arctic foxes and mice are extremely common year round. Small arctic hares are a common hunt for young Beserkers and if one is lucky they can spot a snowy owl flying overhead. The main hunt for those who can't cross to the next isle is the small herds of caribou that transverse the isle. There are two main animals that are bred and kept as livestock for the Beserkers. The main one which provides wool, horns, meat and milk being the Musk Ox. They are a common animal and almost every household owns at least one for the many materials they can produce. The second most common animal being the Rock Ptarmigan, it being kept almost like a chicken. The eggs, feathers, and meat being used in everyday life for the Beserkers.
The isle is home to three housing districts, the royal, common, and working districts. No matter the district each house is made from sturdy evergreen tree wood and is normally decorated with some sort of design. The designs differentiate between family to family or workplace to workplace. Shields and other weapons often decorate the houses as well. The only difference between the districts is who lives there, the royal district holding the Chief of the tribe as well as guest houses for any neighboring tribes that are staying. The common district being the bulk of the housing, any Beserker can claim a plot of land to build a house upon in this district. The working district is the most diverse area due to it being mostly for those who are preforming a working action. Here there are farms, barns for the animals, forges, shops, and even a small inn for those who dare stay the night (or in case one is getting their house repaired). The main marketplace is located here as well. Trader imports flow into the area as well due to small rivers that wind through the area. The resting area for dragons are located within the working district as well, however each house normally builds a small area for their dragons.
The dragons here are trained differently to their Berk counterparts. Here they are trained to do manual labor and the strongest are kept for battle. The old arena now transformed into a battle arena, here owners can battle their dragons to any degree, although to the death is popular. Dragons and their riders occasionally are accepted as friends, but most of the time they are treated as though they are dogs or horses. A pet or a type of work force.
