This was a first for Adelaide, having never seen dragon root poisoning herself up until this point. She still had a lot to learn when it came to being a healer but she knew a fair bit enough to make attempts with healing and herbal medicines, in which case the antidote she had heard about that had been mentioned around Berk for such an occasion. She had gotten this information in fact from Gothi, one of those she trained under to know the different plants and herbal remedies.
She was already brewing two pots of the tea, the antidote to the dragon root. Of course, majority of the time Adelaide and Seaspray had been working on it, the two downed Stormcutters had been brought there, the largest place they had for either of the two dragons who wouldn't fit in a normal sized hut combined. But, she had it brewing in two separate cauldrons, never taking her eyes off them until she knew for certain they were ready. "Seaspray." She finally spoke, picking up one cauldron while the Tide Glider gave a soft growl, picking up the other with her teeth to set beside Cloudjumper while Adelaide handled getting one of the brew to Magni.
Once it was all gulped down she came over to Cloudjumper, carefully lifting his jaws to pour the tea in and make sure it went down without causing him to choke. She made a motion with her hand towards Seaspray, a gesture towards the ripped areas of Cloudjumper's wings not escaping her notice. Seaspray gave a concerned sound, spraying small bits of water across the wounds to help with their healing and to ease the pain with the healing properties. "That's about all we can do for now." Adelaide spoke, looking towards the two Haddocks, her cousin and aunt, giving them a quick look of sympathy. "I'm sorry this happened."

When the antidote was administered, it took several minutes before Magni began to stir, letting out a soft groan from the lingering ache but no where near to where it had been hours before. His body only shifted, his tail giving a weak swing while his wing claws flexed, taking a full minute longer to allow himself to become aware of his body again before he became concerned with his surroundings. He took a deep, long whiff of the air, taking in all the scents and sounds around him before it slowly became clear where he was and what was going on.
Sure enough, he could indeed smell Cloudjumper close by but mixed among those scents were humans and another dragon or two. Immediately his amber eyes shot open, narrowing to slits and shifting wildly, aware of no longer being in the same spot he had passed out at. Finally, those amber eyes fixated on the source of the scents, a low growl coming from his throat when he spotted some familiar ones but no less stopping his mistrust and rage from earlier rising once more to the surface. In that moment, he was on his feet, the memory of the dragon hunters still quite fresh in his mind as he tried to lung forward, only for his legs to give out on the second step and crashing before them with an audible noise of frustration and pain.
Wind knocked from him momentarily, he could only focus his harsh gaze on them once more before focusing on Cloudjumper, giving a soft keen towards the other Stormcutter. "Cloudjumper..." He finally weezed, not quite yet able to get a full sentence out.

| CLOUD JUMPER Proud Uncle Dragon CloudJumper's condition wasn't good, to say the least. The gaping holes in his wings had scanned over, but the damage could possibly be permanent. Hiccup would probably be able to fix some holes in his wings, right? If he could fix the smaller dragon's tail then why not? It was t like the whole wing was missing. He felt something nudging his side and looked over, as he had already been awoken by Valka, his rider, petting his head worriedly, not seeming to care about the other stormcutter. The woman had tears in her eyes, hugging him around the gave the other dragon a sympathetic look before scooting away slightly, souls out of the fact he didn't want Valka to disturb Magni.
"They'll let you go when you're better, I promise. We don't hold dragons against their will, unless they're injured." Was the only comfort he knew he could offer the larger dragon, and he nuzzled Valka worriedly. The dint of her in tears... it was unnerving. He knew she cared for him as much as he cared for her, he could hear the pain in her voice as she spoke to the other dragon and rider.
"I'd go after Viggo right now if I could. I'd remove his head and mount it in the great hall."

And through them days I was a ghost atop my chair
My dad considered me a cross he had to bear
The word had come from someone else in the village who'd seen the two in the arena, and his heart had sunk when one of them was described as his mother's dragon. It didn't take him long to jump on Toothless and take flight to the Arena where the two dragons had been taken, the Night Fury offering a much quicker lift there than if he'd ran the whole way across the village.
When the pair arrived, he was quick to jump off the saddle before they'd even completely touched down, his good eye stretching wide at the sight of the pair, who were obviously gravely wounded, "gods...What happened?" He looked between Valka and Adelaide, concern written all over his face, he couldn't help the burn of anger in his chest however, he didn't have to guess who'd done this, and his patience with this man was wearing thinner the more he pushed and prodded. He took a steadying breath, carefully approaching Cloudjumper for the moment to look over the damage to his wings, letting out a soft sigh, "I can fix this, you hear me? You'll be flying again in no time." Dragon wings weren't that unlike cured leather, surely he could patch this the same way? That would come later, for now...
He came to Cloudjumper's head, putting a gentle hand against his nose and speaking softly to him, "did Viggo do this? How did it happen?" He glanced over at the massive dragon beside him, "I recognize that dragon, is he your friend? I need to look at him to...Will he let me?" He wasn't stupid enough to approach a wild dragon without knowing full well that he wouldn't be attacked for it, but he couldn't just leave him to suffer either.
While Hiccup was at Cloudjumper's head, Toothless let out a soft, worried croon, carefully approaching the larger dragon and laying down at his side, scootching up until he was resting against him, sharing his warmth even if he was vastly too small for it to really make a difference.
And in my head I'd sing apologies and stare

"Aunt Valka, we already had Hiccup and Toothless have something happen to them for doing such a thing, then Heather came back with Windshear recently wounded herself. You three keep this up there won't be a Haddock family left, period." Adelaide told her, concern showing for her other family. True enough that she wasn't close to them, and likely her and the Jorgensons never would be, but that didn't mean she was no less concerned about them. She could even tell Seaspray was concerned, obviously trying not to fret and feeling bad she could not properly heal the wounds entirely, letting out an apologetic growl towards the two Stormcutters.
But Magni's behavior still concerned her, his charge making her uneasy, even when Hiccup arrived to the scene. "It was the Dragon Hunters Hiccup." Although, she already could figure he might have guessed that without any of them really needing to answer. The red head still came over to where she had a fire going for brewing the concoction of the antidote minutes before, picking up the retrieved arrow and holding it out towards him, "The villagers who found them also found this, as normal coated in dragon root. We can thank Thor that the antidote you gave a while back is down in our herbal books now." Adelaide came over, kneeling on Valka's opposite side beside Cloudjumper, giving him a look of concern as well.
"My guess would be they used a larger dose than necessary for a normal Stormcutter like Cloudjumper. Which might be why he's in worse shape than normal." Adelaide gave a slight shake of her head in disbelief. "If I didn't know better, they've encountered a titan wing before, and right now it's up to Cloudjumper's body to fight, but I will make sure if necessary he has more of that antidote." She assured them as Seaspray came closer to Toothless and Cloudjumper, deciding to curl up beside the two to offer her own aid since there wasn't much more she could do alone.

Magni couldn't believe what he was watching, face showing one of disgust at the closeness the two dragons had towards the humans present, made no better by the Night Fury and his own rider's arrival. Although he did notice compared to the first time they had met they had recently gone through some rough times, the black dragon lacking his previous intact tail fin and Hiccup sporting a new eye patch, perhaps a result of the same humans who attacked himself and Cloudjumper? Perhaps the only thing they really shared was a common enemy, but Magni could not stop his old feelings of prejudice towards the humans, giving them a look of distaste.
Hiccup's gaze turning towards him made the titan wing give a low snarl of warning, finding himself somewhat surprised he could understand the man. "If you wish to not lose yet another limb, I would greatly advise remaining beside him." Magni hissed, nodding sharply with his head towards Cloudjumper. Seeming as the arena wasn't closed off, Magni was more than anxious to leave, lifting his wings to press against the ground and force himself up, being somewhat shaky but determined to leave. Unfortunately, he was no where near in any condition to be flying yet.

| VALKA & Cloud "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." Cloudjumper wasn't too thrilled with the dragon's threat, growling a warning under his breath, "He's the one human you shouldn't be making threats too you boulder head." He chuffed, shaking his head and snuggling closer to Valka, who was covering her mouth with her hand, blinking back tears as she looked at the holes in her dragon's wing with shock. "Oh please don't cry." He pleaded softly, fighting past the poison in him to move his wing away from the woman and nuzzle his head against her hand, still speaking, though to Hiccup this time.
"That's Magni... he doesn't like humans, as you can probably tell. He showed up here and I suggested we take a flight... some of Viggos men ambushed us, but I think they're just after him... Titan wings, like the monstrous nightmare Viggo has." |

And through them days I was a ghost atop my chair
My dad considered me a cross he had to bear
Hiccup turned a serious eye to his mother, nodding with Adelaide's words, as much as he wanted to get Viggo for this, for everything he'd done, now wasn't the time to do it, "Mom, I want to get him as much as you do, but now isn't the time. Your dragon needs you here...We need you here." He said these words with a gentle sort of force, it wasn't a request, it was a direct order, and he hoped that maybe she would follow it where his sister hadn't, "I can't keep watching my family fly off into the unknown...I can't lose you guys..." He put a hand on her shoulder for a long moment, before pulling back to shift his focus on the two dragons, listening as the healer spoke, "then he'll be fine. Cloudjumper is a strong dragon." He put a hand to his head, sparing a glance at Magni when he spoke.
"I can respect that, I know you want to leave, but you're in no shape to...How far do you think you would get when you can barely move two feet?" He gestured to the exit, giving the dragon a level, serious look, "no one is keeping you here, but you seem smart enough to know when to pick your battles. I'm not your enemy, Viggo is, and he's mine too." He left it at that as he turned his attention back to Cloudjumper, sighing through his nose, the damage to his wings was severe, but he was confident that it could be mended.
"I think I can fix these..." He ran a hand gently over the missing patches and tattered places, looking over at Valka with a tight smile, "he doesn't want you to cry, mom, it's going to be okay, I promise." He gave a half hearted chuckle and nodded, but his face became serious when the dragon confirmed that it was Viggo that had done this, "I'm very familiar with Titan, as Viggo calls him, he gave us hell at the Edge sometime last year, pretty sure the only reason he cooperates with Viggo is because he hates me about as much as Viggo does..." The thought of Viggo being in possession of more titan wings was unsettling, whether he was selling them or intending to use them for other purposes...Either way he didn't like it.
He turned to Adelaide now, coming to her side, "I think I can patch up the injuries in Cloudjumper's wings with leather and thread, but there's no way I can do it now, he's too weak, and I don't want him awake and suffering through that when I do do it..." He crossed his arms over his chest and sighed, "do you have anything strong enough to knock a dragon out? We'll also need to make sure the sutures don't get infected, I can handle the needlework, but I'll need you to watch him for a little while afterwards to make sure his body doesn't reject it, that's where my knowledge ends and yours begins." He gave her a tight smile, clearly more than a little worried.
And in my head I'd sing apologies and stare

Adelaide could only nod, frowning slightly. "I still recommend making sure the poison is completely gone Hiccup. He has the antidote in his system, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be fully expended." She warned him, making it clear the dosage was perhaps greater than what the Dragon riders were use to there on Berk. For now, she left it at that to allow him to speak with the Stormcutters and his mother, turning her attention back to Cloudjumper, reaching out to gently rest her hand above a wound where an arrow had struck into his tougher hide rather than a wing, having made sure after Seaspray had done her thing she had made an additional effort to have a poultice over it to avoid infection and help the healing.
Her attention became solely focused on making sure she and her dragon companion had missed nothing, her gaze scrutinizing every scale and inch of Cloudjumper. She was a healer, but there was still a lot she was learning from Gothi, especially in always making sure there was nothing she had missed. One wrong slip could mean the difference between something being relatively minor to going completely south within a short amount of time.
But, her careful looking was interrupted when Hiccup was speaking with her once more, turning her gaze to him instead. She was silent for a bit, trying to mentally go through her notes and what she had seen from Gothi, before shaking her head, "Not off the top of my head," She admitted with an apologetic look. "It is my growing area of expertise, but Gothi has a few books I can look through. Give me a little bit to grab them. We want Cloudjumper to be out long enough you can patch him up but not so short enough he wakes up right in the middle." Adelaide knew there was a few remedies that could help, and she gave her patient a gently pat on his horn. "Hang in there Cloudjumper, we'll figure this out." She tried to be reassuring, but she didn't quite know how much good that would do.
Standing once more, she turned to the pink exotic Tide Glider, "Seaspray," She called as she moved away from Cloudjumper while the tide glider perked up and was on her two feet. She trotted over to her rider, bending down enough for Adelaide to climb on before taking flight and soaring out of the arena, aiming herself upwards towards Gothi's hut.

He shot a glare towards Cloudjumper, snorting softly in response, "A human is still a human, Cloudjumper. I will make what threats I want." His gaze shifted back to Hiccup, "To whom I want." His tone was harsh and cold, no longer holding the friendliness he had shown towards his fellow Stormcutter before their capture. His mood had soured considerably and he was certainly in no mood to be rather negotiable towards the species that had brought so much pain towards dragon kind.
"This isle is large enough I can find a place to remain hidden and allow this antidote to take its course, I've had to drag myself out of far worse than being taken out by dragon root." Magni growled in response, managing to keep himself upright, slowly feeling his strength returning. But one thing Hiccup was right about was it would be sometime before he could properly fly. Perhaps gliding would prove more beneficial, or simply keeping to himself until he was strong enough to fly far from Berk, knowing he had stayed longer than necessary and had allowed his guard to drop.
Shaking himself, finding his stubbornness and determination to leave, Magni merely seemed to dismiss the obvious opportunity presenting itself. "I was a fool to drop my guard today, all for the excitement of seeing another of my kind in years. But do not think this helping remove the dragon root poisoning means I owe you dragon riders anything." Magni told them in a gruff tone, lashing his tail slightly. "Far as I'm concerned, my enemies stand before me already, but the ones of top priority lie beyond this island." With a final, dismissive snort the titan wing began to force himself to move, heading for the open gate of the arena.

| VALKA & Cloud "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." Cloudjumper sighed at th Titan wings words, nuzzling against his rider and nodding to Hiccup. "If you can't knock me out then I can fight through the pain. I trust you know what you're doing." He said and forced a happy expression, and Valka wiped her eyes. He looked over to the exiting dragon and crooned a call after him, "I hope we see one another again."
"I'm not... I'm not going after him, not until we have a plan... I know..." She huffed and shook her head, "We just better make plans soon is all." |
