His father hails from a village somewhere off the coast of Italy who was drawn to the Archipelago due to newer opportunities. He actually stopped in Berk some 21 years back where he met Kieron's mother, back when dragons were enemies to even the likes of Berk.  The two courted and quickly married within a year and by that time, Kieron was eventually born a month after they married, being born healthy and lively. But, Kieron did not see his father often in the first eight years of his life, remaining on Berk with his mother where he was raised. He often spent days helping around the house, learning to fight form his mother, and spending time with the other village kids. When not doing any of these things, Kieron spent a lot of time around the fishermen of Berk, learning their skills since it was not much different from his own father's occupation. And when his father was home, he was teaching Kieron the ways of trapping, especially dragons, and telling the young boy about his many adventures. Unfortunately, after the age of nine Kieron had no choice but to accompany his father as his mother soon passed from an unknown disease. Heart broken, both Gunvaldssons packed everything and abandoned Berk to the open seas, a place Kieron seemed to adjust to rather quickly. It was here that he truly began learning everything about how to navigate the seas, all there was to know about ships, catching/trapping, and tracking. He caught on quickly and even became part of Drago's growing army, helping to nab dragons. But, at the age of fifteen, Kieron would watch in horror as his father was killed by a Shockjaw they were attempting to capture, mainly due to a faulty trap that allowed the beast to be loose. In anger, the young boy jumped in to help,managing to yank on a chain to hold the Shockjaw down but in the struggle was injured, causing him to nearly lose his right eye but recovered. The shockjaw escaped unfortunately, and Kieron vowed to find the beast and bring it to Drago. He took over his father's crew and continued their jobs, being branded along the way by Drago on his right rib cage as a sign he was under his command. Kieron was there during the conflict between Berk and Dragon's army, witnessing the fight between the Bwilderbeasts, and the ending result. Seeing the end of Drago, or the supposed end, and being the age of nineteen, Kieron abandoned Drago's command and his army and for a time continued trapping animals, fish, and dragons to make a living, residing himself to a small crew and the life style. That was until he was approached by Viggo Grimborn, being given an offer to be a partner and under his employment. Hesitant at first, Kieron gave it some thought and decided a little extra money wouldn't hurt. But, he still finds himself not minding doing his own thing and doesn't seem entirely concerned with Viggo's concerns of being king of the dragon trapping trade. Though in those same few years, Kieron also came across and captured the Shockjaw that killed his father and gave him his scar, managing to bring the dragon under his command to serve as a hunting dragon of sorts.

Sitka CLASS Tidal GENDER Male SPECIES Shockjaw APPEARANCE Sitka is an unusual looking shockjaw, being of exotic colors. He shares their body structure, size, and everything seen on a normal Shockjaw. He has a long, fish-like body, long tail, and prominent lower jaw. He has small legs and bio-luminescent wing membranes and tendrils on the lower jaw. On his back are membrane joined spine ridge and wings used in swimming and flight that are bat-like and fin-like. His main color is a green with light green leopard like ring pattern on the body with a beige underbelly and pale orange on the wings that fade to dark orange along the edges with red splotches. Yellow can be seen along the wings, tendrils, and membranes of the fin ridge with purple markings around the eyes and purple spots along the lower jaw.
