Puffle was at one of the rivers that ran through the island, looking out over the water with a watering mouth at the thought of eating fish for a change, rather than the small animals he had to scout and hunt out in the woods, fur tasted awful compared to the wonderful scales and flavor of fresh fish. He stuck his head out over the water more, licking his chops as he saw the silvery glint of fish below him, acting like he was about to swipe a claw down every time like his mother had taught him, though he would stop short since the fish seemed to quickly swim away as they came right withining range. Did they know they were being fished? Puffle a,ways had thought fish were stupid, maybe they weren't?
The young dragon soon realized it was because his shadow was over the water, and he was moving which caught the fish's attentions, or at least his mother had said something like that once, be careful not to cast your shadow over the water. "Drat!" He hissed as he realized he had been the stupid one, and jumped over the river to sit on the other side, looking over the water and smiling down at his reflection since now there was no shadow to distract the fish, and raised his claw readily over the water once more. Today would be the day he'd get it right! With a determined look the hatchling waited for the moment to strike, and suddenly slammed his claw down onto a fish, calling out a roar of joy as he squished the thing against the ground so it couldn't move before he dunked his head under the water and grabbed it out from underneath his claw, eating it down quickly. It wasn't the best maneuver, since now he was covered in water, but it had gotten him something to eat at least. He shook out, water splashing out of his fur and scales before he sat down again and got ready for another strike, hope into for another fish.

For another young dragon, although older than Puffle, that day was a lazy day since he had spent the last two wandering the island and traveling about Itchy Armpit. He may be somewhat energetic but with very little sleep in between his traveling and wandering about, Draugr was exhausted and had been curled up on a ledge, sleeping soundly to regain his strength. Though, it wasn't like the teen dragon slept many days away and enjoyed being somewhat lazy, never having to concern himself with humans or having a rider at this point in time, though that didn't mean that might change. Just for the moment, he enjoyed the freedom he never had as a youngling dragon and let out soft snores where he lied.
But the sudden splash from Puffle startled Draugr, at first confused at where the sound had come from and was for a moment terrified that he was dreaming. The splashing brought unpleasant memories and he cautiously peeked over, expecting his previous captors to have somehow tracked him down and were now taunting him with his fear of the ocean. Yet, what he found was the same landscape he had seen when he landed hours earlier, calm, serene, and untouched at the moment by any humans for some miles around. Instead, the source of the splash came from a nearby river below his perch coming from a small dragon that wasn't difficult to tell was only a hatchling at best. He couldn't make out what type of dragon from this height but he quietly watched as they lashed out at the water once more, striking out at a fish that became trapped beneath his paws and causing Draugr to lick his muzzle, realizing he himself was hungry.
Perhaps he could accomplish two things right then and there. Catch a lunch and make a new friend, something that made Draugr burst into flames on his tail and wings briefly in excitement before he took flight and the flames being fanned out by the wind since he made no effort to maintain them. He didn't consider what landing might do or the suddenness of his arrival, only being fixated on meeting a fellow young dragon. "Hey there!" Draugr spoke up as he landed, causing the ground to shake and making a loud thud from his already large size. "Need a hand fishing?" He inquired, eyes shining with excitement.

Puffle had chomped on his second fish, pulling it from the water, rather dragging it since this one was bigger and not dead yet, putting up quite the fight before the wooly dragon flopped onto his back with it, smacking it to make it stop moving, risk having it jump back into the water. Since he had already eaten one he figured he'd focus on catching more and storing them, to eat later. After all, practice makes perfect!
Hearing movement behind him the small dragon growled, fur floofing up defensively as he stood over his freshly killed fish, hoping it wasn't a wolf or some other unfriendly dragon. He didn't mind sharing one bit, but being demanded to give his food up would hurt his pride, something little Puffle didn't enjoy, and was more than willing to defend.
This dragon was huge compared to the Wooly Howl hatchling, though his friendly voice and offer put the little dragon at ease, and he shook out his fur and sat down, tail wagging as he looked up at the Moldruffle, "I can do it myself, I'm a big dragon!" He said with a toothy smile, nosing the fish to the older dragon happily, "I'll share though, I just have to practice, I think I'm getting better!" He said excitedly, proud of himself for finally being able to catch a real meal, quickly going back to his spot over the water, paw outstretched as he waited for another flash, "Fish taste better than anything else on this island so far. Squirrels and rabbits have too much fur!"

Draugr wasn't totally surprised by how defensive the young dragon got, no doubt being quite protective due to his small size. Such younglings without parents or other family tended to struggle a lot more than say a teenage dragon like himself, sometimes even being bullied and forced to give up a portion of their meals to survive somewhat. But that was not the type of dragon the Moldruffle was and he merely gave a slight smile, trying to show his friendliness to ease the defensive youngling who seemed to quickly pick that up through his posture and tone the first time.
"Big huh?" Draugr mused, moving closer as he showed his acceptance of the younger dragon's offer for his bigger second catch, giving the fish a sniff at first before looking at the younger male. "You certainly are doing well for someone your age. Some still struggle to hunt on their own at all." Draugr admitted, firing a small stream of fire to cook the fish slightly, preferring it cooked to some degree and licking his chops before he bit into the fish, raising his head to help get it into his jaws better, bones crunching from the pressure and savoring the taste of the scaly creature before swallowing it with a satisfied sigh. Once that morsel was down, Draugr shared a similar desire to catch his own food, sidling up near the younger dragon but making sure they each had room to make their catches. "Forest creatures aren't so bad, sometimes removing the fur and feathers can help so you can get to the meaty parts."
Watching the water, he made sure his shadow wasn't cast on the surface as he leaned his head down carefully and watched the shine of the scales on the fish. He stood stock still, only his eyes moving that became fixated on the water's depths before he saw that tall tale shine and lashed forward with his jaws to snap around the fish which struggled in his hold as he raised his head and giving his jaws a hard bite to break the spine and killing the fish, which was the same size as Puffle's second catch. He dropped it in between the two away from the water and giving a small grin, "Two of us working together we'll have more than enough to last us both a few days. Maybe after I can even show you how to tolerate the forest creatures better." Draugr suggested to him.

Puffle watched curiously as the other dragon cooked his food using his fire, something Wooly Howls like him couldn't do, though he preferred raw food anyway. He took the speak of him doing well for his age as a compliment, puffing his chest out for a brief moment before he went to grab another fish, sloppily slashing his head into the water after he had slammed his claw down once again. He pulled a smaller fish from the water just in time to watch Dragur catch his own, "Woah." Puffle beamed, adding his catch to the pile with a wagging tail before he took his spot again.
He he looked up at the older dragon, glancing between the piles of fish and him a few times. He had t ever though of saving food up... if he had a den to store food in then he could go adventuring more! "I'm willing to learn." He said as his gaze went back to the water, thinking about what a squirrel without fur, or a bird without feathers, would look like. The mental image made a small giggle, a dragon equivalent of one anyway, leave his mouth.
The small furred dragon went for another shiny scaled fish, though lost his footing and went head first into the shallow water, letting out a frustrated huff as he pulled himself back onto land, moving back a few steps as to not soak the other dragon, and shook out his fur.

"That's always a good quality, learning will certainly increase your odds around here." Draugr said with a satisfied smile, for a moment pausing in his catching to watch the younger dragon. He was watching his technique, how he was catching the fish and seeing how he handled the scaly little water creatures, chuckling softly as he seemed to still need time to perfect it. It made the Moldruffle recall when he had to learn to hunt as well, needing support and lessons from the village of Berk's own dragons to be able to do so.
He recalled the time in his life when he had struggled to survive and had only ever known violence, harshness, and pain compared to being able to grow up without parents at least or among his own kind. He cringed at the memories, glad to see that he could help a young dragon avoid ending up meeting a similar fate and at least survive compared to what he had endured. But he snapped from these thoughts when he heard a splash and almost immediately turned to the smaller dragon with deep concern.
Luckily, he did not have to worry too much when seeing Puffle had pulled himself out and was thankful that the part of the river they were at wasn't deep. "A small accident little one, we all go through it. Just be glad this part of the river is so shallow." Draugr was trying to be encouraging, but he understood the struggles of being young and having difficulty with things at first. It was going to be a lot of trial-and-error and lots of learning to get things right, but even a larger dragon like himself occasionally slipped up. But it occurred to Draugr that they have never gotten names from one another. "I'm Draugr by the way, I was so excited to meet another dragon I forgot to introduce myself." Tags: @puffle Notes:---

Puffle nodded to the older dragon and walked up to him with a wagging tail, "I like swimming in the rivers, just not when I'm trying to catch food in them." He said with a happy coo, sitting himself beside the larger dragon, tilting his head sideways and pressing the top of his flat head against the moldruffle's leg, "I'm Puffle. I don't get to meet too many new dragons. Lots pass this island but only one or two ever land long enough for me to talk to, or that look like they're friendly anyway. Someone my size has to be careful meeting new dragons." He said with another happy laugh, leaning against Dragur.
"What are other islands like? How many have you seen?" He asked with wide awe filled eyes. His wings could barely keep him above the trees, so he couldn't exactly leave yet- nor did he want to, risk his mother returning. He was sure she had just gotten lost in a storm or something and was looking for him. With less gleeful eyes he spoke again, "Have you seen any other dragons like me?"

Draugr chuckled as the little Woolly Howl seemed quite excited about having someone else around, bringing his tail around to curl around the youngling dragon. “Well, some of us aren’t all bad but it is wise to use caution. Unfortunately, I have crossed paths with dragons that aren’t exactly friendly.” Those times of his capture once more flashed across his mind but he quickly tried to push them aside as Puffle continued to ask further questions. “I’ve seen many islands in my short time young Puffle, some are barren and have no plant life, they’re just rocky, dusty, and some are plain cold and covered in ice.” He explained.
Of course, he wasn’t exactly going to tell the youngling all the truth. “There are some islands nearby that are lush, green, and have several high places to fly to when you get older and stronger. It’s worth taking the extra trip to fly as high as you can before going into a free fall. You see all sorts of things just from those islands. They’re so full of life, one even filled with humans and other friendly dragons.” Draugr said with eagerness to share. “But I’ve lost count how many I’ve seen, I just know it’s been a lot.” He admitted, knowing he had lost track shortly after the third one, maybe even having visited some more than once.
But his gave became saddened when seeing the glee fade slightly in his eyes at the final question, “I’m afraid I have not Puffle. I have not seen any of your kind this far out, if she was around I would have noticed.” Draugr admitted but trying not to be a complete downer he quickly added, “But don’t give up hope, I’m sure you’ll find your mother sooner or later.” He tried to assure him while deep down he wasn’t too certain himself. Pufle huffed, snorting slightly at the fact the moldruffle had not only not only seen his mother, but none of his kind. For the moment that was an oh well in his mind. Maybe she was still out there... Maybe. Hopefully. He didn't feel the need to be sad over it of course, he had a new friend! "When I'm big enough I'll fly somewhere with humans and play with them! And then I'll go to all the islands!" He said with an excited giggled, rolling onto his back and nuzzling up against the older dragon, "It won't be long before I can start really practicing flying!"

Draugr couldn't help smiling with seeing that despite the sad news, Puffle seemed to still be looking on the positive side. And perhaps that was the best thing for him at this point in time. "Well, if you ever feel like knowing the sensation of flying I'm more than willing to take you different places." Draugr assured him, showing he was willing to offer the younger dragon a ride if he could not yet fly himself. Honestly, he didn't very much mind making such a move to do so, that way Puffle could see what was beyond that of Itchy Armpit and get to know more places like he had in his youth.
"Perhaps when you're older and stronger, I'll see you more often on the other neighboring islands." Draugr said with excitement, knowing there would be a time that he wouldn't be able to be around Puffle often. But, that didn't mean he wouldn't still see the younger dragon around from time to time of course. Tags: @puffle

Pufle beamed at the offer of being carried to other islands on the back of Dragur. "I'd like to... but," He huffed, a bit of frosty air coming from his nose rather than smoke since his kind didn't breath fire, "never mind, if you really mean it then I'd really like to get off the island sometime!" He had promised his mother he'd stay right on the island until she came back, but in his head he was planning on staying till he could fly. Since she wasn't already here... Well who said she was ever coming back?

Draugr couldn't help looking at the young dragon curiously when he seemed to almost say no to the offer. Perhaps he was on the island for a reason? The mention of a mother almost brought some consideration why he might be waiting and slowly working on how to survive on his own. That would explain a fair bit of why Puffle was alone and testing the skills of fishing alone rather than his parent or someone else teaching him instead, which made Draugr almost doubt of taking the little dragon away from here on the off chance his mother returned.
"Well, definitely let me know for sure then. I'll be around often enough, all you have to do is tell me and I'll gladly give you a fly around." Draugr promised, deciding to at least give the option. There was never a sure thing when it came to wild dragons like themselves, obviously due to the fact the wild could be an unforgiving, horrible place.

Puffle nodded and crooned happily, "Maybe next time, there's always a next time~" He let out a playful 'rawr' and tackled the older dragon's leg, attempting to wrestle with him the best a dragon as small as himself could template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

"Of course there is." Draugr purred slightly, chuckling as the smaller dragon tackled his leg and spread his wings. Grinning, he flapped them once to hover in place and gently letting Puffle down off his leg before dropping back down, making the ground shake slightly. He was crouched and wagging his tail, letting out a small playful growl, ready to pounce, "Look out little dragon! Big, bad Draugr Skele-Face is gonna get you!" He said in a mocking evil tone, before playfully pouncing the little dragon but being sure not to hurt him.
