The Marketplace is where you can find anything and everything. Since Beserkers live off of buying and selling goods money is almost always present. The main source of currency is gold coins, otherwise known as Koruna. Each coins worth depends on its size, the largest being no bigger than a lemon and is normally used to buy property. Most Koruna are the size of quarters and can be used to buy most things with only a handful of them. Koruna are smelted at most forges with a small amount taken from it size wise in compensation. For example, the amount of gold for a quarter sized Koruna would be resized to a nickle in compensation, the extra gold going to the forges smith. Most however smelt their own Koruna at home with personal molds. Each Koruna has a Skrill printed on one side and the word Beserker printed on the other side in old norse, the rim of each coin is lined with runes of fortune, luck, and wealth and the coins are considered of high value to most traders.
The layout of the Marketplace itself is very complex and large, most lively hood being done here. In the very center is the town square, a large fountain surrounded by the plants and trees that are able to grow being in the very heart of the square. Surrounding that are large river ways of fresh water that lead out to the ocean, this allows trade boats to come through and drop off goods to their respective shops. The main shops are kept in a main ring of stalls, they are for the traders that come in from boats and objects or creatures of high value and is known as the center shopping district. Here one can find servants for hire, slaves that are considered valuable, and large dragons that trappers have brought in.
Further inward from these main stalls are lines of tables and tents with anything and everything that can be found on the Isle of the Living. From food, clothing, tailoring, barber shops, smaller flea markets within the main markets, trinkets and odds and ends, all of that can be found in the main part of the marketplace and they wind around in a circle formation, and it is considered the main ring of the shopping district. Restaurants, bakeries and theaters are also found here along with any other type of manufacturing jobs or goods. It is here that most Beserkers work in the jobs that can be found here if they aren't within the army or are apart of the royal court.
The furthest shopping district is known as the farming district. It is mainly for seeds, farms, produce, animals and animal care items that are traded here. It is the closest to the residential district due to its importance for farms and gardens and helps keep the village fed. Smaller river canals run through this area mainly for irrigation as well as allowing smaller trading ships to come through. These ships normally house smaller livestock animals, smaller farmhand dragons, servants or slaves, but they mostly carry seed and bulbs that can be planted within the ground.
There are several river canals that run through the marketplace although all of them meet at the fountain of the center district. Checkpoints line the area of where the rivers meet the ocean that check and examine all goods that are transported within the isle. Guards are posted here with wolves as their aid to find anything that might be considered stolen property or unusable goods such as rotted food. They keep tabs on the boats that go in and out along with what cargo they come in and leave with. This helps stop crime from leaving the isle and has proven to be effective. They also tag servants and slaves in order to keep them from escaping the island, the tag is normally a small but still noticeable mark that can be removed if they have found freedom through whatever way their owner sees fit.
Lastly the entire area is coated in pathways and large streets for carriages to run through. Horses are a popular creature to help haul in goods and other items for sale. The streets are large, cobbled and wind through the entire marketplace in wide or narrow roads. Festivals and celebrations are held within the main marketplace as well.
