Dragon's edge is a fairly relaxed and laid back community, I intend for this to be a very open space for people to express their creativity freely, so the rules are fairly basic and mostly common sense, but important nonetheless! 1) OUT OF CHARACTER RULES
1.1 Treat Everyone With Respect
this one really should come easily, it is probably the simplest rule to follow. Just be nice! If someone is rude to you first, contact one of us to help you deal with the situation. This is a forum for everyone, rude or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
1.2 Open Door Policy
What this essentially means, is that you can come to any of the forum's staff members about absolutely any problems or questions. We want nothing more than to give our members a safe and welcoming environment, communication is key to that. Please do not ever feel afraid to contact me directly if no other moderator is online!
1.3 All Are Welcome
Just as our characters can be any gender, race, sexuality, etc. so to can our members. As stated before, this forum is for absolutely everyone, and as such, I expect everyone to be treated with the utmost decency. Bigotry and harmful opinions will not be tolerated, and will be met with a warning or a ban depending on the severity.
1.4 This is a PG-13 Forum
Swearing is fine in moderation, as if violence, if you think your thread will stray into heavier territory on those fronts, please tag the title and the first post appropriately. Sexual content of any nature is not allowed, light flirting and innuendos are fine, but please fade to black for anything else.
1.5 Multiple Accounts are Your Discretion
We don't have a preference on how many accounts you have in regards to handling your characters, if you'd like to do everything from one account you're more than welcome to, but if having one account per OC is more your style, that's fine too!
1.6 Patience is a virtue
People are not always going to be at your beck and call, people have lives, they sleep, they don't always have the energy or muse to reply or start threads. Please do not harass or heckle someone to do something for you, passive aggressive comments made to try and make someone feel guilty for not posting or paying attention to you will also not be tolerated. This rule stretches from the board, to the Cbox, to the Discord server. Roleplay is not a chore and no one is obligated to do anything they may not feel up for. Please let the admit know if someone is hassling you, first offense will be met with a warning, repeated offenses will result in a ban.
2) IN CHARACTER RULES
2.1 No Godmodding, Meta-gaming, or OP Character Allowed
What this means is that you may not take control of another person's character without their express permission, your character cannot know things that they would not logically know(I.E if YOU know something OOC that your character has not learned yet, they cannot know it until they are told in character), and no over powered characters, we are all flawed in some way, this should carry through to your character! Balance is everything!
2.2 No Killing/Maiming Without Permission
This forum operates on consent only, meaning you cannot kill or grievously injure another person's character without their permission, attacks should be written as attempt rather than definite hits, to give your partner a chance to dodge in a fight. We operate on the three dodge rule, you get three successful dodges in a fight before you have to take the brunt of the attack.
2.3 No Character Limit
Dragon's Edge does not have a limit on the number of characters that you may have, as long as you can handle them and keep them active, you can have as many as you like!

CHARACTER CREATION RULES

1. Humans Only
This forum is meant to focus on the humans and their relationship with their dragons, however, you are allowed to RP your dragons WITH your humans, you just can't apply as JUST a dragon and RP like that.
AMENDED: RPing dragons will be allowed with no limits on how many you may make, however, you cannot RP dragons considered extremely rare or legendary IE: Boneknappers, Bewilderbeasts, Red/Green/Purple Deaths, Night Furies, etc. Titan Wing dragons are allowed, however.
2. Gender & Sexuality
This forum strives to be a friendly and open environment, therefore we allow character of any gender identity and/or sexual orientation. That means you may have Trans or Non-Binary characters, as well as homosexual, asexual, or anything else on any of these spectrums. Have fun, and be respectful!
3. Mental Illness & Disabilities
A good rule of thumb when writing characters with mental illnesses and disabilities is to do as much research as you possibly can, try to avoid stereotypes, tropes, and cherry picking symptoms. If you do not feel confident giving your character a distinct and named illness, then incorporating symptoms into their personality works as well. Just try to be respectful of the people around you, and you'll be fine!
4. Natural Hair & Skin Tones
Please keep your character's hair and skin tones within a realistic spectrum of colors, any color you can find on a natural human is acceptable. Eye colors, however, can be any color you want, unnatural or not. Special eyes such as slitted, color changing, or any other unnatural shape or pupil size is not allowed.
5. Relationships and Families
Characters have to be 18 or older to marry, and 14 or older to form actual relationships. Crushes are fine for any ages 13 and under, but they must be the listed ages for anything above that.
6. Character Activity
Canon characters are the only characters with a hard activity requirement, if you are going to be gone for an extended period of time and you play a canon character, you MUST post in the absence board, otherwise you will be considered MIA. You may be MIA for max 2 months before your canon role will be placed back up for adoption.
7. Dragons
Your character can start off with one of these standard breeds: Monstrous Nightmare, Hideous Zippleback, Deadly Nadder, Terrible Terror, Gronkle. Your dragon can have any colors or patterns, be creative! Other species can be bought from the shop with Hacksilver.
8.Villages
If you would like to lay claim to an unclaimed section for your own village, you must write up a detailed description of the area, as well as any subboards that you wish to have added for your village. Village Chiefs MUST be active to keep their land, otherwise you are under threat of being invaded and conquered.
