[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] To love to kiss, to sweetly hold for the dancing and the dreaming [attr="class","itokaytext"]It took longer coming than it had going, sailing an unforgiving sea with limited depth perception and a missing leg was difficult, even for him, and he was still pissed at Viggo for making off with his leg, more so than he was for the eye. But these thoughts were at the very back of his mind, the least of his worries in the wake of the truth that had been revealed to him, his best friend was alive, and he needed to get back to him, or find him, but he would go to Berk first. Just in case.
The trip out and back had taken a little over a week by the time he spotted Berk as a tiny speck on the horizon, and he'd never been more happy to see that sight. He was so tired, his body felt weighted down and fatigued, but he hadn't felt so energized and clear minded in months, his spirit was charged with a need to be home, and he felt his heartbeat picking up wildly as he drew closer.
He had a hunch that he knew what Viggo would do with the leg he'd stolen, and it made the need to get home before Berk rallied a full scale war even more vital. He knew someone would see him, or at least they would spot a berk ship coming back into the docks, he was so ready to collapse and sleep for weeks, but he knew that wouldn't happen for a while yet, he had too many things he would need to clear up and settle down, too many plans to make if Toothless wasn't home yet.
He felt the boat lurch as it bumped the wooden dock, and he used the make-do crutch to hobble over and tie it off, careful as he climbed out and started to make his way up the series of ramps and steps that connected the village to the docks below.

As difficult as these past few months had felt, Heather hadn't felt this worried and anxious in a long time. Her friend and brother, Hiccup, had been missing, on top of him not acting right for days at a time and it didn't exactly settle well with what could have happened to him. Windshear and her had been searching on and off, barely eating or sleeping in the process in a frantic search to find their friend, family, and chief. 'Damn it Hiccup! Where are you?!' Heather thought in frustration as they were returning from yet another lengthy flight northeast of Berk, having had little luck in finding any signs of him or Toothless.
But, when things were seeming to be bleak, Heather did notice something in the distance, squinting her eyes slightly and making out a ship. It was a Berk ship at that. Perhaps this time it was the man they were looking for. "Windshear! Faster!" Heather urged, pressing against her lithe form as Windshear gave a growl and pushed herself to move faster, metallic brows furrowed in concentration as she flew as fast as she could but not quick enough to beat the ship before it made it to the docks, causing her to circle around a few times as Heather peered down.
Much to her shock, it was Hiccup, without Toothless and looking pretty battered up. Without a spoken command, Windshear dove down to the ramps, landing on the first ramp and causing the wood to creak from the force of the landing, Heather barely waiting as she dropped from the saddle. "Hiccup!" Heather sprinted for him, barely stopping herself from bowling him over but managing to stop in time, looking over her brother in shock at his state. But, her anger and worry overtook her concern at first, slapping him hard on the face, "Don't you ever make us worry like that again! Do you have any idea how worried everyone was?!" She yelled, her hands balling into fists before throwing her arms around him in a tight hug, "By Thor, where were you?" She said, worry clear in her voice more so than rage.

For two days Berk had been getting ready... ready for what Valka had feared would come. Since that damn box came... She had been in tears that night, clutching both the red tail fin from her son's dragon, and the metal foot of her son as her dragon coiled up with her, not able to offer any words of comfort even if he had any to give. Valka had been preparing the tribe for war, a final stand against dragon hunters. Going against Berk's cause was one thing, killing their chief was another. She fully intended to kill the Viggo man herself, she would have taken great joy in tearing his head from his body, had it not been a viking running into the mess hall during battle schematics to say that a Berk ship was approaching. Valka had dropped everything and ran, Cloudjumper coming to her side and quickly she jumped onto her dragon, who took off towards the docks, leaving the other vikings in a confused and worried haze.
Reaching into her pocket she grabbed Hiccup's foot tightly in her had, praying somehow that it was her son that would be there, praying that somehow the gods had brought him home even though she was holding a piece of him right there. Catching sight of a limping boy with Heather drawing near, Valka was wondering if her eyes were fooling her in the crulest way, for surely that couldn't be her son just below her, home and alive. She slid off of her dragon just before his feet hit the ground, almost tripping over her own feet as tears stung her eyes, and she raced towards her beloved son.
"You're alive!" She cried as she threw her arms around the boy, squeezing him with the strength of a bear before quickly pulling away, inspecting him for damage as she held out his metal foot in her hand... Her gaze stopped at his eye, "By Thor's hammer, why couldn't you come back in one piece!" WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] To love to kiss, to sweetly hold for the dancing and the dreaming [attr="class","itokaytext"]Things had been strained between him and Heather since his mother...Their mother had told them the true nature of her birth, so he was more than a little surprised to hear her call from afar, turning to watch her circling in for a landing. He didn't get much of a chance to actually speak before her hand connected with his face, and he put a hand to his cheek, surprise showing in his one, widened eye, "Heather I..." He gasped when she threw her arms around him, and his face softened, "I had a score to settle. But I'm here now...I'm home." He gave her a playful smirk, "glad you're talking to me again..."
His eye caught the shadow of Cloudjumper cast over them before he saw Valka jump from the dragon's back and barrel towards them, "Mom!" He couldn't manage much before her arms wrapped tightly around him, and Heather in turn, he felt tears well up in his uncovered eye, lip quivering just a little before he pulled them both against his chest in as tight a hug as he could manage, "of course I'm alive, you think I would let Hel get me that easily?" He let out a soft snort, "Viggo got away...I had a feeling he would send that back, though. Lucky he's as obsessed with theatrics as I am." He indicated the prosthetic with a chuckle, taking it from her so he could carefully reattach it, finally able to stand on two feet again.
He put a hand over his bandaged eye and let out a sigh through his nose, "yeah, well you know how bad I am at keeping promises..." His face lit up in the next moment, "Toothless is alive, Viggo didn't kill him...Is he here? Did he make it back?" He looked out towards the sea, taking a step like he fully intended to go back out there, "if he's still out there trying to get home...I have to find him..."

Heather couldn't help giving him a small smile, knowing she had been avoiding Hiccup as much as she had been avoiding Valka. Mostly though, she had been trying to get her own head on right just to try and figure out how to approach this at all...that was until things had gone south when she returned from her personal away trip and discovered what had happened with her birth brother. "Well, that little tidbit isn't something you hear every day you know." Heather pointed out but she barely got those words out before she felt herself being crushed by someone else giving them a hug. Tilting her head slightly in the group hug, Heather wasn't surprised to find Valka, who seemed a lot stronger than she appeared.
Released from the hug, the black haired woman got a better look at her brother, cringing when realizing he seemed to be roughed up quite a bit. "You're terrible at keeping promises." She agreed, mostly teasing him and would have been more than overjoyed to have known at least one of the two was back...until Viggo's name was mentioned and Heather's gaze became narrowed and cold. "Viggo did this?! That scumbag is back?!" Heather practically growled, her cold gaze became one of fury that she hadn't shown in a long time. Not since her long standing grudge against dragon hunters and those who had attacked her adoptive family. If Viggo was back that meant things weren't going to be as peaceful as they had hoped around here. And with Hiccup back the preparations for war may be put on hold or stopped entirely so they could figure out more about what was going on from Hiccup's own experience. But Heather didn't want to wait for mobilizing against those who had harmed her family once more.
Shifting her gaze towards Windshear the Razorwhip seemed surprised as she was about Viggo, but Heather could see her fury reflected in the Razorwhip's own gaze. It would not be the first time she had handled things alone and it would most likely not be the last. "Far as I know, Toothless hasn't been back Hiccup." Heather's voice came out calm, years of practice in hiding her true emotions. She stepped back towards her brother, resting a hand upon his shoulder. "We'll get him back Hiccup. He's family, and we don't leave family behind." Heather assured him, but her gaze looked past Hiccup out towards sea, recalling the direction he had come from and clenching her opposite hand at her side. "Viggo will not get away with this." She growled softly, feeling that old itch of revenge creeping up on her once more as Windshear growled her agreement. giving a lash of her tail to show her own eagerness.

Valka let Heather have her piece, cupping Hiccup's cheek with a silent prayer in her mind thanking the gods for bringing her gods back, even though his eye was damaged. She almost hadn't realized just who else was standing next to her with how elated she was to have her boy back on Berk. As Heather spoke Valka's gaze softened from anger and joy, to one of remorse... She had one child back, and Heather was alive... It was a shame that things had to be this way, the way Heather left so abruptly- she assumed Heather didn't want to be a part of the family she was so desperately trying to keep together. "It's good to see you're well too." She said with a forced smile at her daughter, and than gave Hiccup a rough pat on the shoulder, "We'll find him, I promise you that, but right now we need your eye looked at... Wouldn't want your return be end in vain." She said softly, grabbing her son's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze, though more to assure herself that this was really her son she was holding and not some cruel dream.
"The battle party will be stalled, but we are still at war with the hunters officially." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

Don't be dead - promise me that much
When Toothless washed up on his shore with two missing tailfins and no saddle he felt his heart drop. He knew in his heart Hiccup wasn't dead, not if the Nightfury still looked extremely hopeful. The problem was figuring out where Hiccup could have gone, especially since it looked like both he and Toothless had gotten into a horrible accident. He made sure to have Toothless healed and looked after within the dragon stables he had gotten to know very well. He mounted Nephthys, decided the best thing to do was to bring the news over to Berk so they could all work together to find the lovable fishbone. When he got there he saw his sister and Valka surrounding an injured Hiccup.
Wait, what was his sister doing there?
He didn't really have a chance to ask her about that right at that moment, but that was certainly something he would have to ask her about later. For now he had a job to do, and if it meant for a dramatic entrance then so be it. He dived downwards, Nephthys's legs stretched out to snatch up the other chief. He would lift him up well into the air but still within earshot. He shouted down, a concerned grin on his face.
"Hey I need to borrow him for a bit, its really important! I'll bring him back don't worry!"
With that he would hopefully fly off with Hiccup trapped by Nephthys.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] To love to kiss, to sweetly hold for the dancing and the dreaming [attr="class","itokaytext"]He didn't feel the need to respond to the statement, he understood exactly what she meant and he knew that she knew that as well. The news from their mother had been shocking, and had made things weird more for her than himself, he was glad that she seemed a little less hesitant to talk to him, he really didn't want to lose a sister so quickly after realizing that he had one.
He nodded at her words and sighed, shaking his head, "I was sure I was done with him, but he's doubly angry at me now." He remembered Viggo's parting words, their next encounter, only one of them would be leaving alive, and Hiccup was running out of pieces of him that he could afford to lose in these encounters.
He glanced to Valka with a tight smile, giving a confirming nod, "I only had what I could find to bandage it, I don't think I'll ever be able to see out of it again..." He shrugged, putting his hands on both their shoulders and giving them a serious expression, "we need to be careful, I don't know how long he was watching Berk, right under our noses, before he managed to capture Toothless." He looked between them, "I want to get him as bad as you do, believe me, but I'm not going to throw my people into a war until I know exactly what we're up against." He said this with finality, he'd caught Viggo alone, there was no telling what he had on his side.
He didn't get to say much else before he was suddenly snatched right from where he was standing, letting out a startled yelp as he glanced up to see what...Or who'd grabbed him, "Dagur?!" He wiggled in the skrill's grip, letting out a noise of protest, "Why is it always you?! Why this?!" Of all the things to greet him coming home half dead with fatigue it had to be this mess! He turned an eye up towards him, "What's so important?!"

Heather couldn't help feeling a little twinge of guilt hit her when seeing Valka's smile. She knew the way she had reacted was probably a little harsh and she had not considered how Valka might take such a reaction. At the time however, Heather had not known how to react nor what to believe with knowing of this sudden relation. A part of her was still unsure but she didn't want the woman to think she hated her like Hiccup seemed to be concerned with. "We'll make things right. Even if it will take some time." Heather spoke, resting a hand on Valka's outstretched hand hopefully as a start to making amends for how she had acted towards her birth mother.
Still, she could not forgive Viggo for what he had done to her birth brother, giving Hiccup a glance. Perhaps he could stall the war party but there were things him or Valka could not stall and she was already seething with rage, revenge filling every fiber of her being. Before she could suggest a different approach she was caught off guard by the appearance of a skrill...and familiar voice. "Dagur!" She called with shock yet some relief tos we he was at least alright, considering it had been sometime since she had seen him as well.
Making a soft whistle, Windshear was quickly dashing to her side and the young Viking pulled herself onto the saddle before the Razorwhip was taking to the skies. At first, she intended to follow before it struck her of what she really needed to do. "Both of you come back safely! Don't make me chase both of my brothers down!" She called after them before Dagur's dragon could be too far out of earshot and rather turning her gaze towards the hut she had resided for the time being. "I think our path is clear Windshear." She spoke softly, Windshear letting out a little snarl before she flew down towards the hut.

Valka had some weight lifted off her chest when her daughter took her hand, and she was about to speak when her hand was ripped away from Hiccup's, and as she looked up she noticed a certain ginger's skrill was to blame. She hopped on Cloudjumper's back, his four powerful wings flapping furiously as she came to Dagur's side, eyes narrowed at the ginger boy. "I know you mean well." She called to him with a rather kind voice for a woman who was seething with anger for the moment, "But Hiccup has just returned form a journey injured, in case you hadn't noticed. His eye might be infected." Her dragon growled lowly at the skrill, furious that someone would just take a part of his family when he was already missing Toothless. She pat Cloudjumper's head to get him to remain quiet, glaring at the boy even though she remained calm. "Last time I checked it's a three day flight to your land... his eye may be beyond saving at that point." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

Don't be dead - promise me that much
In his mind he knew this probably wasn't going to go as smoothly as he thought, mostly because he knew Hiccups family. He had his dragon pull Hiccup upwards so he could actually situate him into the saddle comfortably. He stared down at his sister as she spoke, the expression of what on earth plain across his face. Did she already know about his courting of Hiccup and that's why she considered them both brothers? He didn't know, girls were to weird to try and figure out half the time. He grinned and kept Hiccup in front of him, making sure that the other would be alright in the saddle. Valka began to speak and he looked at her while trying to keep himself respectful. He pulled a satchel from the bag on Nephthys's saddlebag.
"You guys act like I didn't know what I was doing, sorry Hiccup but you really are accident prone. Trust me, you wont want to wait when it comes to what washed up on my shores."
He pulled bandages and a disinfectant salve out of the satchel, he knew what was in the salve since he had seen it used for most wounds, burns, cuts, even bug bites. It was a mixture of water that had steeped lambs ear, aloe vera, poppy seed dust, and a small amount of ground white willow bark. He would tilt Hiccups head towards him, a sigh escaping his lips.
"I swear, I'm not insane....well, not entirely. Here, this should help your eye out, its used for most wounds. The pain should lessen and it the infection will be kept away or lessened. Allow me?"
The hint of Toothless washing up on his shore being the only thing he would allow to clue the other in on what he had to show him. He would apply the salve carefully and then bandage the wound properly. The medical supplies would be put away and he'd speak, knowing Hiccup would want to go even if he had a limb removed.
"I'm sorry Valka, trust me, this is really important and I know he wouldn't miss this for the world, after all its hard to keep your kids separated."
That would be the last hint given as he urged Nephthys into the fastest speed she could go. She was used to this by now, him zipping along the ocean as they raced to get from The Isle of the Lost to Berk. He'd keep a steady hand on Hiccup, keeping him from falling off of the Skrill. He wasn't going to pause until they got to their destination, where the rider could finally be reunited with his dragon.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] To love to kiss, to sweetly hold for the dancing and the dreaming [attr="class","itokaytext"]He couldn't do much else but let out a protesting sound as he was pulled up into the saddle of the Skrill, pulling his fist back like he was about to punch Dagur hard in the nose, before glaring into his eyes with his uncovered one, his nose wrinkled in an infuriated expression as he stared him down.
"Dagur, I have been on a boat for damn near a week, I'm exhausted, I'm in horrible pain, and I'm starving, I swear by Thor's hammer this better be good or so help me I will make you suffer."
His breathing was coming out in pants as he watched him pull the satchel out, jerking his head away a little when Dagur reached for his face, before he let him apply the salve and bandages, letting out a soft sigh before setting his eye in a less than displeased expression.
"There's no saving this eye, he hit it deep, I'm just lucky the eye is still there, losing it completely would have been a much more troublesome injury..."
He sighed, at least the salve seemed to be taking away the worst edge of the pain that has started to throb in his face and in his head, he supposed he would give Dagur credit for that, and muttered a reluctant thank you to the man as he situated himself back in the saddle, he was still hungry, and utterly drained, but he supposed he would see what the fool needed, if only to humor him before finally getting to go home.
"I can keep myself steady on the damn dragon , Dagur, hands to yourself."
He turned an eye back to him, giving a soft snort as he stubbornly situated himself on the dragon so that he could keep himself from falling off by himself.

| VALKA HADDOCK "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." Valka worriedly watched as her son struggled away form the man, trying to get close to see his eye but afraid Dagur would fly faster if he thought she would try and do something, which she wouldn't since his eye was being treated, which was what she was worried about. "I'll trust you, Dagur." She said in responce to him, eyes focused on the horizon ahead, smirking almost playfully as she turned her eyes back to the ginger boy, "You wouldn't be flying out here here alive if I thought you were here to harm him. You're smart so you're well aware of this I believe." It was almost a challenge in her voice, though she really didn't have any ill wishes to Dagur, besides the harsh talk she was planning to have with him when they landed. What could be so important that you had to show up unannounced and steal the chief from his mother's grasp?! |
