Valka hadn't gotten any sleep that night, as her son had left by ship- possibly to his doom, to face his dragon's killer. How could a mother sleep knowing her chief and son would be shipped back in pieces by the maniac that had murdered poor Toothless. In the morning she reluctantly called off story time for the children and set to work helping villagers and doing the duties Hiccup would normally do. Only three people knew of what had really happened. Hiccup himself, Valka, and Henry, the girl who had set this mission into motion. Of course Valka wasn't mad at Henry for doing so... She just wished her son would have come to her first.
Her dragon was up with her, seeming to be suffering the same fate of unrest. The large storm-cutter had followed his rider out into the village square, where she then stood on top her dragon's back as he walked around, her eyes sifting through the small numbers of people to see if any sort of building repairs needed to be done, or if anyone would need the temporary chieftain's help.

Alviss had been still investigating the island of Berk but despite having a few slightly damaged buildings nothing seemed off to him. He felt used to the flying dragons and their riders but it seemed like he was missing something like there was something wrong. It must have been his imagination as he tread down the different walkways to find a woman standing on her dragon companion seemingly depressed. Could have just been his intuition but he felt this woman knew why the air around the island fell silent. It was his job as a prospector to investigate monsters and anomalies but he felt like this was not the work of either as he approached her slowly as he was still careful around dragons despite most of the dragons' peaceful nature it was always good to be cautious.
"Excuse me would you happen to have any directions to the nearest food stall or market?" Alviss said despite knowing why he originally approached the woman but did need to be shown around as he was unfamiliar with this island and its locals. Alviss kept his blade sheathed at all times now that he was in Berk but he always kept cautious when dealing with monsters like the dragons. He felt his stomach rumbling and he tilted his head to the side wondering what was wrong with her as he shifted his head back down to look at his belly and held his hand against it as he felt it rumble. He hadn't had anything to eat since he had got here to Berk and it was a very long journey as well.

Valka turned her head to the newcomer, sliding down off her dragon's wing with a forced smile. She wanted to go to the docks and wait to see any sign of her son returning... but she couldn't. She temporarily buried the thoughts and let out a small laugh as the boy's stomach growled. Berk often had visitors these days. Perhaps they should build a large building with just rooms for all these people in so they didn't have to camp out for long stays. "If it's food you're looking for then you should come with me, the mess hall is open and visitors like yourself are more than welcome." She gave the boy her hand, introducing herself and the storm cutter to her side as he sat up, curiously eyeing this stranger, "I'm Valka and this is CloudJumper." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

Alviss felt glad he could get something to eat as he was led to the mess hall for travelers and others alike. It was touching really that was able to get a warm welcome from what seemed like a rowdy viking village not that he had any problems with vikings it was just known that they had a habit of being uncivil sometimes. "My name is Alviss. I came here from a long journey from the Tall Tree Mountains to see this place." His stomach rumbled louder as he was led to the mess hall a place that was serving different breads and meats but mostly roast bird or lamb. Alviss sat down and chowed down on a piece of bread and one of the large bird drumsticks in the other hand and ate pretty fast. Once full he got up and looked to Valka as he would then ask her something. "Was something the matter by the way? You seem stressed." Alviss said curiously.

Valka smiled as she let the boy eat, nibbling pathetically at a roll of bread herself. She hadn't been eating much as of late, though her dragon gave a low growl, noticing what she was doing, and she pat his head as she took more of a bite from the bread. Cloudjumper knew how she acted when she was worried, and it made him worried. At the question her smile faded, and she cleared her throat, glancing around as if worried someone would hear. "My son... The chief is out on a ..." She cleared her throat, and Cloudjumper crooned, nuzzling the woman with his head, though Valka seemed to ignore it. "A mission. It's nothing. Mother's are just worrisome by nature I suppose. Why don't you tell me about your home? I've never seen clothing like yours, it's fascinating~"

Alviss could tell she was worried about something but didn't press the issue any further when she mentioned her son of which she had said he was on a mission. The woman named Valka mentioned Alviss' clothes and asked where he was from. "Oh these? I'm a prospector, we study and invent things more or less. This is cloth made from hemp stalks which uses the plant's fibers to weave into a cloth. I was told that hemp is actually three times as strong as cotton but also lightweight and perfect for traveling as it does not mold." Alviss said as he continued. "We actually study many different types of creatures mainly but we do also have study labs for other things such as equipment inventing and food study. It's a lot of work to be honest." Alviss said as he would then tell of his homeland. "The Prospectors live in the Tall Tree Mountains which is by its name means it also has more warm weather to grow different plants and is full of different creatures to study." Alviss said looking at a nearby map from a book he had found in the village. "It should be right about here." He said as he pointed to where it was and noticed something odd. "Itchy Armpit? That's a bit of an odd name for it." Alviss said as he chuckled aloud. "I wonder who came up with that name?" Alviss asked as he looked at other locations on the map curiously.

Valka was glad the boy didn't ask any more about her son, though it seemed like everything reminded her of him. Like the boy himself in front of her. An inventor and researcher? "My son would love to meet your tribe. He thinks himself as an inventor as well, and to our people he is a great one." Upon the name of the island she scratched her head, "While he's good at inventing he isn't so great at naming." A small laugh left her, though again it was something of her son's she was looking at, something about her son that was pushed in front of her... She had to be strong for her people though, just like Hiccup thought he had to be.
"You must have come here to study dragons then, correct?" Cloudjumper perked up at that, warbling a lazy grumble. WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

Alviss perked up when he heard that the chief or rather Valka's son was also an inventor of sorts. It was relieving to hear there were others like him and that of his tribe which gave Alviss more ideas as to why the dragons were so calm and behaved. This son of hers might have figured out a way to tame the dragons which would make sense since there was one right in front of him not trying to bite his head off or anything. When she mentioned that if he was here to study the dragons she was sure on point as it broke him from his thoughts about the situation as he then spoke. "Actually yes I am here to study the dragons." He said as he looked to cloudjumper with a smile. "My tribe is very interested in the behavioral patterns of the dragons as of late. I was sent to study these new changes but I believe I already figured it out, your son must have somehow influenced the dragons to become calm again." Alviss deduced as he looked over back to cloudjumper again. "Dragons are not much different than other animals really they must have just had a reason to become aggressive, most likely to defend themselves." Alviss said as he held out his hand toward Cloudjumper to pet it. "But I must remain here for other matters of study, we still do not know much about dragons as we do for other creatures. So I guess I will be here a while at least until I concluded my research on them. Which in my honest opinion may take more time than we had planned as their are many different types of dragons here." Alviss had said with a small chuckle.

Valka hummed as the boy perked up, and Cloudjumper nestled against the human's hand as the stranger pet him. "They're so sweet and gentle when they're treated right. But if you're taking notes and studying them, then I can permit you to look at the book of dragons. It's not complete, but there's a great amount of detail about a great many of dragons in it. Of course, there are more breeds out there yet to be discovered, our riders are eager to find out about them as much as you are I'm sure." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

A dragon book huh? That would help immensely as he was going to need to report all this back eventually. Alviss smiled as the dragon cloudjumper didn't mind him petting it as he rubbed the top of its head he felt at ease that dragons were no longer dangerous or at least most of them. "It will definitely save me a lot of time if I see that book. I would not need to research every individual dragon type here because of this, so thank you for that." Alviss said as he got up from his table after eating. Alviss looked around noticing he would need to stay somewhere for a bit before packing up and heading back to Cherrywood with his notes. "Is there a place I can stay for the next few days? I will need to gather my research materials and some supplies for the trip back but that in itself could take a while." The trip back would be a heck of a ride since he did not know how to tame dragons yet let alone ride them, so going by boat was his best option really. He then remembered hearing her son would like to see his tribe one day and noticed he never got a name for him. "Your son must be very smart if he can invent things like my tribe. I'm sure the Prospectors would love to meet him and his dragon as well. I'll have to show him around when I get the chance but I will need to know his name so I can introduce him to the others, though it would also help me know who to bring with me back to Cherrywood." Alviss said with a small chuckle.

| VALKA HADDOCK "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." Valka smiled and put her hands on the table, Cloudjumper still happily and lazily crooning, "It's my pleasure to help another who wishes to study these beautiful creatures. Finding other villages that agree with us isn't the easiest task. I hope we can find an ally withing your people." She hummed in thought of Berk prospering from alliance after alliance, defeating the dragon hunters once and for all... Her son by her side. "The stables is our temporary housing for both visitors and dragons, you'll find a bed there, sadly you came a little too early to be a visitor to our soon to be open Inn, though I'm sure, for research purposes, you'll visit again?"
At his mention of Cherrywood she hummed, "I myself would like to go, but I think it would be fitting if my son went with you, or one of the many other riders here. I'm sure most of them are dying for some sort of adventure." |

A stable was not a proper housing area for most people but for now he would just agree to what Valka had said about his current living quarters which much to his dislike was stable but he would not comment on that and instead answer her question about the possible alliance. "An alliance certainly would be ideal but I would need to speak to the others in charge of the different research divisions on their opinions. We are mostly independent so we do not have a Chief like Berk does. So in order to decide things we have a board made up of all the leaders of the research divisions. So I would have to go over it with them." Alviss nodded when she had asked him to come back to research the dragons more. "The next time I come back will most likely be for that alliance you seek with us, of course I will not be alone next time." Alviss said smiling. "But yes I'm sure from what you told me about your son he will be just as eager to see it as you are." Alviss would say as he got up from his chair to soon head out. "I do hope when we come back that inn will be open by then." Alviss had said as he would go look around some more then head to the stables to rest.
