Ryn gripped the saddle bags held at the side of Frostfire's saddle, feeling the Deadly Nadder increasing her speed as she noticed a village ahead. It would be the first they saw in the past two weeks and the young woman could understand her dragon's eagerness. This village was fairly large in size, a promising opportunity to stock up on what they needed for their next round trip. Most other villages they had coke across were small and offered only parts of what they needed but they had been grateful regardless. But now, seeing this village, Ryn was hopeful that the two might make a decent amount of trade here or selling some things.
Once they arrived closer to Berk, Frostfire did a quick loop before diving to the entrance of the village, startling some at her sudden appearance. "Easy Frostfire, don't need to give someone a heart attack. I know you're excited." Ryn chuckled softly, carefully undoing the straps on her legs but keeping her feet in the stirrups as the feathered nadder trotted into Berk, coming to the middle of the village proper to glance around.
Ryn likewise looked, lifting herself to peer at the place in wonder seeing it was quite lively here. "There's the trading post, good place to start wouldn't you say?" She inquired and getting a chirp from her dragon companion in response before Ryn dismounted from the multi-blue colored nadder and undoing a couple of saddle bags heavy with furs and other items and trinkets she had collected or found along the way. She slung the bags over her shoulder, being mindful of her bow and quiver as she began making her way towards the trading post with Frostfire tailing her side. Tags: Open

Valka had been telling stories to the children in the meeting hall most of the morning, enjoying her time with them She always enjoyed getting to spend her mornings telling tales of her life or retelling old stories, or even stories of her son. Children took a liking to her, as she took a liking to them. Of course the morning story time was over and she was now wandering about town with her Storm cutter walking close by her side. Someone who looked like a trader caught her eye, as the new person had just landed on dragon back. Curious as her dragon the chiefs mother came up to the young woman's side, smiling at her politely. "Welcome to Berk." She said in greeting, CloudJumper tilting his head curiously at the nadder that Ryn had flown in on.
"We don't get many riders from the outside. Have you been to Berk before?"

Ryn wasn't expecting Valka, or anyone for that matter, to suddenly come up to her side. It actually startled the young woman a little, causing her to pause for a moment to gain her composure, quickly returning a kind smile, "Oh, uh, thank you ma'am." Ryn gave her a quick bow of her head, trying not to appear rude but did find herself at a brief lost for words. She wasn't exactly use to someone coming right up to her right away, and her shyness was already making her a little tongue tied. Luckily, Valka continued with an inquiry that did help settle down that shyness.
"Actually, this is our first time being here." Ryn answered, finding her voice surprisingly not coming out in a stutter but actually sounding calm. For once. "Me and Frostfire come a long way from here, slightly past Glacier Island a little further north." Ryn explained as the young Nadder gave a few growls and chirps of greeting, coming to stand at her rider's side and regarding the Stormcutter with equal curiosity. Tags: Valka Haddock

Valka smiled to the woman, Cloudjumper giving a few friendly grumbles of his own as the nadder caught his attention. The chieftain's mother nodded as her memory from her travels showed glacier island in her mind... How far north of that had they come from? She didn't remember there being many villages within the archipelago. Never the matter, she was happy for Berk to have any new faces anyway, "I'm Valka. The stormcutter here is Cloudjumper," She introduced herself, not seeing need in mentioning she was the chief's mother, as she girl was already nervous enough seeing someone new approach, and she hated the title anyway. "That's quite the lovely dragon you have, may I ask how you two came to meet?" WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

"It's a pleasure to meet you two." Ryn gave a small smile of greeting. "As I've already said, this is Frostfire and I'm Ryn Liulfr." Ryn gave their proper introductions, carefully setting her bag down at her side and rolling her shoulder from its weight. It seemed they might be there for a short while and she didn't exactly feel like holding the bag for such a long period in case things got to a point of their talk lasting longer than only a few minutes. But her smile turned to a slight grin when Valka complimented her dragon companion, the nadder giving a soft chirp of pride as Ryn gently stroked the side of her cheek.
Though, she frowned at recalling their first few years together. "Well, my village has this Rite of Passage we have to go through. Before dragons were being considered friends we use to have to hunt one down and bring it back to the village. You had only a few months time, if you didn't succeed you were viewed in a shameful view and either shunned or exiled." Ryn explained, trying to keep down her disgust at such a thought. "But we recently began trying to integrate a new alternative: taming a dragon." It was then the young woman shook her head, "But old habits die hard I'm afraid. I came across Frostfire during my own Rite of Passage; I took time to learn her habits, reached out in different ways before I earned her trust and we gradually got to a point it felt time to bring her back. Instead of being met with awe, I was met with mostly negative reactions."
It was perhaps not something someone like Valka would have wanted to hear, or find it rather disappointing there were still such rituals out there. But Ryn figured her village certainly couldn't be the only one who still preferred the death of dragons over taming them. "But, we have since left all that behind us." Ryn once more brought a smile to her face, feeling Frostfire nudge her arm and rub her cheek against it in a comforting manner, feeling her rider's disgust and unease of the matter. "How about you and Cloudjumper? You don't see very many Stormcutters." She inquired curiously. Tags: Valka Haddock

Valka nodded in understanding, knowing the feeling all too well of the girls past with a village that wasn't a friend of the dragons. "Not all people can see the brighter side of befriending these beautiful creatures. You'll find us welcoming you with open arms here." She said sweetly, though her brows furrowed in thought when she was asked about her and Cloudjumper. "Well," She cleared her throat, "Long story short I opened my child's bedroom door and there was this devilishly handsome Stormcutter playing with my baby." She said as she pet the dragon's head, who crooned happily from the praise and petting. "He's like a brother to me." WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

"Such people don't know what they're missing." Ryn agreed, smiling towards her long time companion and hugging her head as the nadder gave affectionate chirps. Though their bond may not be nearly to the level of most riders on Berk, Ryn could never doubt that the two had formed a strong relationship since those horrible days. But she gave Valka a glance, giving a nod to show she wouldn't press for the entire story. If it was too difficult or too personal to tell, Ryn knew better than to press for answers compared to some. "Well, if he's as gentle as he is handsome, I'd say you have yourself a keeper." She said before looking to the nadder beside her, "Frostfire certainly is like a sister to me, that's for sure. Only true family I really have left." She admitted. Tags: Valka Haddock

| VALKA HADDOCK "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." Valka hummed as the woman praised her dragon, whom didn't let comments go to his head, though he did croon what sounded like a thank you to the woman, a cat like toothy smile growing. "He's as sweet as he is modest... and your villiage and family are't just missing out on dragons, they're missing out on the young woman riding one."
She said brightly, facing forwards, "Berk is used to villiages opposing the idea of being friends with dragons. I share the same goal as my son to help them see peacefully, though it always seems rather impossible." She shook her head, "Enough about that, you're a trader, correct?" |

"I'm sure they aren't too worried." Ryn told her, though their was a hint of disappointment when thinking about it. She had tried to show her family, and others, that Frostfire was not a threat but an asset but there was far too much tradition rooted in her village preventing them from seeing reason. Maybe she could find some solace in knowing there were other villages like this one that didn't mind dragon riders.
But, she turned her full attention to Valka, "Not necessarily." Ryn soon had a real smile return to her face, "I'm little bit of everything, game hunter, problem animal hunter, tracker, hired hand to handle nuisances, and only trader when we no longer need something or we need supplies." She explained before gesturing to Frostfire beside her, "Sometimes Frostfire will find some weird stuff in the wild so we sometimes come across collectors willing to buy for a modest amount." Truth of the matter was, Ryn didn't quite know what her and Frostfire were anymore, they felt like nothing more than wanderers, trying to do some good in the world and trying to find where they belonged. | VALKA HADDOCK "He didn't know what he was doing. He thought I belonged with him." "Sounds like quite the interesting life you're leading. My son would be envious." Valka mused and hummed softly at remembering her days with just the dragons. Nothing wrong with the world, nothing that could even go wrong...
"I'm sure our flyers out on Dragon's edge would love to meet you. If you're interested you should check in with them, see if they have any missions to save any dragons or put an end to some dragon hunting ships." She suggested with a wink. |

"I suppose you could call it a life. The only solace me and Frostfire find is being able to put our skills we've learned to good use, and the freedom we have to move about without being shackled down by traditions." Ryn said with a meek smile. Most would probably consider it a life of adventure and would enjoy such things being out and about, never having to worry about their lives, responsibilities, or following their traditions. Maybe someday it would be, but at the moment it only felt like her and Frostfire were simply filling a void they could not.
"Sounds tempting." Ryn chuckled, but she was curious. "Where exactly is this Dragon's Edge? I've never heard of such a place before." Ryn inquired curiously as Frostfire growled curiously next to her, tilting her partly feathered head and her crown-of-thorns spines flicking up slightly.
